This question pertains to ozonolysis with Zn and H2O. The question asks "what is the structure of a compound having a molecular formula of C7H12."
The product is a 7 carbon chain with a ketone at one end and an aldehyde at the other. However, each of the answer choices have only 6 Carbons. Is there some kind of mistake? The answer is a "1,2 dimethyl cyclobut-1-ene" ring.
Its cyclobutene with 2 methyl groups attached where the double bonds are.
Thanks!
