Just took the 2009 DAT. My take on it was that the Bio was weirdly overly specific but otherwise the science was super reasonable. The reading was fine. Happy with my scores so far (23 Bio, 24 GC, 21 OC, 23 RC) (had to edit this part because errors)

But what the heck was the QR section? I've been consistently scoring fairly well on all of my Kaplan practice. But I somehow scored 16 on the 2009 QR.

There were a bazillion questions about mirrors and focal points, which seemed like physics stuff to me. Ellipses? I barely remember that stuff. Anyone know if this stuff is representative of the QR this year on the real DAT? Give me the cold hard truth, cause I'd rather cram if I have to than be in blissful ignorance of the real DAT's QR. Thanks guys.

is this the same exam you sat online on the prometric website for 37? or did you buy the paper version for 27?

Those are solid scores for the 2009 ADA practice. Don't let up though, take those scores with a grain of salt. On the 2009 I got Bio-19, GC-21, and OC-17 but on the real I got Bio-19, GC-18, and OC-23. Just keep studying hard until the exam and don't let your foot off of the gas.
The QR was a little funky. I got a 16 on it and from what I have read people say it was harder. I ended up getting a 19 on the real exam, so obviously I would think to that the QR was a little much on the practice. I was expecting something on ellipses as well, but to tell you the truth I never saw one of those on there and was kind of surprised. It wouldn't hurt to know them just in case though because there are many different versions of exams.

Thanks, good to know. The errors in the key and answers threw me off a lot though.

Yes there a errors in there so just be sure you know those. Other than that though, if you just stay focused, you'll be fine for the exam. Good Luck!

The real BIO is just as weird.
The GC will be much more testing your knowledge whereas 2009 is more plug and chug.

QR on 2009 is ridiculous don't worry.

And RC is ridiculous on 2009 in my opinion so congrats you're ready for that.

BYU is definitely right the GC on the 2009 is a lot of plugnchug. The actual one was a lot harder than I expected for that section. It was way more conceptual than I thought it would be, and even some of the math problems were a lot more challenging to solve.
