I think we should start a thread for this coming years spine fellowship interview trail & reviews. The sticky posted for 2008-09 listed only a couple reviews then got off target from original post inquiry. 😀

i dont have any to contribute otherwise I obviously would....🙂 is it still early for the sports & spine/ have they started interviewing.
I was declined by the Northwest Spine program in Seattle last week, no interview - got a letter.

Haven't heard back from most spine fellowships I applied to. Interviews upcoming at Cleveland Clinic Spine and Ahwatukee Sports & Spine in Phoenix. Feel like it's getting late in the game for other interviews though.

Just out of curiosity how and what did you hear of Ahwatukee Sports and Spine?

Spine programs I've heard of that have granted interviews:
TOCA/Phoenix
Cano/Pottstown
Geraci/Buffalo
Goodman/Alabama
Prather/Wash U
Grasso/Atlanta
Chou/PA--no fellow for 2010?

Not focused at you individually, sorry!

I meant everyone on the trail, so to speak

Add to the list:
Mayo (sports)
Washington University
Utah
Colorado
University of Washington
University of Florida
University of pennsylvania
a number of private practice fellowships. Chou will likely not be taking on a fellow for 2010 from what his coordinator says.

A number of programs have already offered fellowship spots

University of Florida?
Per the website, their interventional spine/pain management program is closed.. I know they have a sports med. fellowship.. but... ? Am I wrong?

it is through the PMR dept (though there is not a PMR training program at UF) non-acgme pain/msk fellowship. the anesthesia fellowship did close from what I know?

SW Sports Spine- Pheonix
LAGS- santa maria
Cedar's - Los Angeles

This "new" sports medicine fellowship is run by one of the most obtuse physicians I have ever met, Joanne Borg-Stein. You'll just be doing fibromyalgia and prolotherapy the whole time anyway.

Other good sports fellowships are MCOW wisconsisn
Stanford,
UC Davis,
Mayo
Emory

While everyone is entitled to their opinions, I happen to strongly disagree with this one. My own interactions with Dr. Borg-Stein have shown her to be an exceptional physician and role model - an expert clinician with a warm bedside manner who loves teaching. Moreover, the fellowship provides a diverse and well-balanced clinical experience in sports medicine.

My advice - check out the Harvard/Spaulding/MGH Sports Medicine fellowship for yourself, and don't be dissuaded by one person's negative post.

So ones that I know are interviewing for interventional spine and sports med:
Geraci/Buffalo
Furman/York
Univ Florida
Cleveland Clinic
SW Sports/Spine phoenix

still waiting on U of M and Pitt.

😕 Dude, did you get rejected by them or something??? I interviewed there, and ended up going elsewhere to be closer to home, but you are way off... this would have been my first choice if it wasn't on the wrong side of the country. Maybe you should think and do your homework before you go insulting the fellowship director at Harvard--not a path to success in practice. Yes, the program is newer, but has a ton of opportunities, including professional sports teams, college sports, etc. and is already one of the top programs. And Dr. Borg-Stein does a lot of sports medicine, and is willing to facilitate pretty much anything you want. Bottom line, you are wrong, and anyone looking at fellowships should check it out
