I'm feeling ancy like you Danny. If anybody on this forum gets an interview invite from any of the TX schools, please post it here!!! 🙂

My app was sent out to the schools on 6/18/08, and I received letters from Baylor and SA saying that my app was complete and received but nothing else. I am a second time applicant so I'm really anxious to get the second cycle going.
 
Count me in..cycle #2. Hopefully I get in somewhere this year. Got app completion letters from Baylor and SA and all of the out of state schools I applied to. Wish you guys all the luck.

Did you get email from Houston?
 
nothing from houston yet. I didn't get a completion letter from them last year, just an interview email invite. that hasnt come in yet this cycle either.

quick question- I submitted my tmdsas app a while ago (in fact it says it was processed and sent to schools today!) but just took the DAT today. Do I need to update my score on tmdsas? I couldn't find any way to do this so I am guessing no...?

First of all congrat. for your solid scores. NO, you don't need that. TMDSAS will get your scores around two weeks and they will upgrade in your application. if you are in hurry. Baylor will accepet the copy of your DAT, you can fax it to them till they get your official one.

follow up Q to what PT asked, when was your tmdsas application processed? I'm gonna guess May, I think I was in the 2nd or 3rd batch (process date: 6/18/08).
 
is when my app was processed. I really hate this waiting game...
 
when people talk about upper level bio courses do they mean 400 level or 300 level? just curious...i have taken only one 400 level bio course and one 300 level bio course as an undergrad...
 
Keep your head up, PT. This is a game no one likes playing. BTW, my app was processed on 6/18. As far as stats go... I'm not big on sharing those on here. Time and time again I see people over analyze numbers. While DAT and GPA are important, my app has other strengths which cannot be quantified. JMO.

As far as upper-level courses go, I am fairly sure it is 3000+ and above.
 
The schools consider anything 3000 and above upper level sciences.

As an example, I took 2000 level Microbiol, Genetics and two Anatomy classes (all for science majors) at a Community College and when they looked at my transcripts they (Baylor) told me that I should retake the same classes at a 4yr school at the 3000-4000 level.

In addition, my friend was told that the amount of 3000-4000 course hours taken per semester matters when they look at apps. So someone who only takes a few 3000+ classes per semester is not as favorable as someone who has 16 hours of 3000-4000 level. Go figure...

I haven't taken the DAT!! And haven't submitted my application either. Is this bad? :\

Not bad, but get on the ball and start as soon as possible. Get your app done and submitted and then focus on DAT, be hasty though.
 
hey guys..

not to scare u with my teeth but i had a question about those of u who've taken the DAT recently (past month or two) at the Dallas center on Coit Road..

do they issue paper/pencil or transparency sheets/markers for scratch paper?

i've called em over and over and all i get is a voice recording..

you get markers and transparency sheet (in my case I had 2 of each)
 
I got several markers and one sheet and an eraser (after requesting for one at my break...using the side of your hand before the break got messy). I recommend checking each marker prior to your test. During the QR, both of my markers died...I probably lost 2-3 minutes getting new ones. 2-3 minutes on QR, to me, is alot of time lost.

did you guys receive it in snail mail or email?

also anyone heard anything from houston?
 
I received my interviews through USPS (snail-mail). I also have not heard from Houston yet, although judging from Predents stats last year I think they may start their cycle later than Baylor and San Antonio.

also on a side note: received an email from houston saying they received my application. looks like we'll be hearing from them about interviews soon as well.

I received an email today from Houston, so my app is at all 3 TX schools...still waiting for an interview request 🙁
 
For those applying to Baylor, have yall done the secondary application as well?
 
Yea the secondary for baylor is real easy, just some supplement information you can find it on tmdsas website. Got an Interview for SA on Aug 11th, should be fun!

19/19/19 3.7GPA in B.S. Microbiology. Application was sent on 7/2
 
You know you are reading a Texas-related topic when you see y'all being used. Love it. Also, I sent in my Baylor secondary right after my app was processed. It does not take too much time. To be honest, most of the information is covered in your app.
 
Are you suppose to send the secondary Baylor app when you send in your TMDSAS stuff or wait until the received your file from TMDSAS????

I sent it in as soon as I submitted my tmdsas app, I received a letter from baylor saying they have everything except a letter from a practicing dentist which was uploaded by tmdsas today. Does anyone know how often tmdsas updates your information to the schools?
 
Another Baylor question:
Does the letter from a practicing dentist have to be accompanied by a form or is it just a letter that the dentist writes and sends?
 
i believe there is no other form but the LOE must have a proper letter head (such as practicing dentist name, address, etc.) and must indicate that the person writing is a dentist.
 
Hey everyone!

I have a question, My letters of rec. were mailed about a month ago (packet letter) to TMDSAS and AADSAS. If i got letters from the texas schools saying they had my application.. but didnt say that they necessarily needed anything or did not need anything.. does that mean that they have my letters? TMDSAS STILL HAS NOT updated their website... im just getting kinda worried that they did not get the packet. Thanks!!
 
San Antonio and Houston do not report what materials they are missing; however, Baylor does list missing documents in their letter. When I received my notification from them it stated my LORs from my pre-health committee had not been received. Judging from my experience, you should be safe. Likewise, you could always call up to one of the schools and make sure.

Also, I called TMDSAS a while back and asked if the LOR form should accompany the dentist's LOR. I was given a very emphatic YES. She says it makes it easier to process and without the form the letter will be sent to schools stating you did not waive your right of access.

oh yea, no upper divison bio classes..just genetics and biochem..but going to take some this fall and next spring.

currently doing research at baylor. hope to co-author and publish end of the year.

not much shadowing..like 15 hours. but going to try and find a dental clinic this year.

I took my DAT on July 2nd and had my scores sent to all 3 TX schools. TMDSAS still hasn't received them.

Anyone have any similar experienes and know what's going on??

it take around 3 weeks for TMDSAS upgrade that. anyway with those scores you don't need worry.
 
No need to worry. The schools have already received your scores. Once your application is processed (as in you receive an e-mail from TMDSAS), it will show up on your status.
