No letter here. Anyone with a recent acceptance?

To preempt any questions, the admissions office said the Friday mailing DID include some acceptances. Keeping the hope alive...

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure from the above quotes that JUSGEO89 is the one who called the admissions office and that HankMED only said what he said "to keep hope alive..." This isn't meant to be a debbie-downer (especially because I haven't heard anything either) but rather as a way to keep our expectations low. Good luck!
 
Looking forward to meeting people, I'll be freshly back from AZ then. I didn't go to any second looks and I kind of wish that I had, last year's was a blast.

Yeah- I had that thought as well. It is odd that one person reported calling the Admissions Office and another reported on something the office had said. I'm hopeful that they both called and that acceptances really are coming, but I'm assuming it'll be a waitlist or rejection. From what we had heard, it sounded like Admissions was big on getting the acceptances out first and all at the same time.

now you are REALLY keeping the hope alive! props. i can't even imagine the excitement of someone who opens their mailbox to see a big acceptance packet a week after the first (and what we thought was the only) group received them. ridiculous.

Nope. But I didn't interview with Dean Nicholas... Glad to have a decision and still some hope. Going to do whatever I can to get in off the waitlist.
 
Just got the WL letter (FINALLY) - NYC suburbs, as did my friend in NJ.
 
hey, are any other West Coasters and/or Californians still waiting to hear back? i wish i was home...my sister texts me everyday to tell me that the mailbox is empty of anything columbia-related.

this is the craziest mental marathon ever! 😱

Finally got the WL letter today here in the midwest, both for P&S as well as Bassett. No handwritten comments, but I did not interview with Dean Nicholas. I sent an update/LOI email about ten days ago (right before decisions started to come out); Now I feel as though I should send another one, but I have nothing else to update with. Maybe I'll send them a handwritten love note with a lock of my hair? Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back...

But if some acceptances were mailed out and no one has gotten one yet, maybe that's good news for us still waiting?? Keeping the hope alive I guess

The letter arrived in Toronto, Canada via Fed Ex this morning. I haven't seen it yet- I got this information from my mom. By checking the FedEx website, I estimate that they sent this letter either Monday or yesterday (more likely Monday I imagine as it's the cheapest option).
Don't loose hope guys!

Wow! Congrats! I'm in Toronto too - will call parents asap. Are you going to accept? interviewing anywhere else in Ontario?

I'm going to accept (for now). I'm interviewing at McMaster at the end of this month. If I get into Mac it may be a tough choice (purely on financial grounds and putative career goals lol).

i realized that blowing up the post office would be completely counterproductive to actually receiving a decision. instead, i think we should spike their water coolers with ritalin. you still in?

no letter yet in philly.. kind of frustrating because im in ecuador and my roommate hates checking our mail.

HankMED mentioned that the Ad Com claimed to have sent out some acceptances last Friday/this Monday. But, I can't help thinking about the Cornell thread...the Ad Com said a similar thing after the batch of acceptance emails was sent out, to no avail---only WL emails received since. And no Columbia acceptances to my knowledge either since the initial batch. Sooo I can't help but (disappointingly) wonder if Columbia did a similar thing---claimed to have sent out a few more acceptances to appease anxious premeds, when in reality only WL/rejections have gone out since the initial batch of acceptances was sent a week ago...

Any thoughts?? This wait is driving me MAD as it is to most pple here...:scared::scared:

p.s. I seriously hope I am wrong!! :/

Well, there was the Canadian acceptance earlier today. I hope the only acceptances left weren't the international ones.

But I do agree it's unlikely that there are more...

Yeah...I assume the Canada acceptances were unique because they are international.

Anyway...if anyone in the US has been accepted this week...let us know!!

I looked at the FedEx website at it says that it would have taken 1-2 days for my letter to travel from NY to Toronto. So, I'm under the impression that it was sent on Monday.

Remember, Canada isn't THAT far away! I know there is an international border to cross, which slows mail down a bit, but Toronto is closer to New York than the Midwest or California are.

Definitely true and thx for the message--a little bit of hope is always nice 🙂 My thought was that they might consider domestic v. international applications separately or something along those lines--I heard it is very hard to get in as an international student, so congrats big time!! Who knows though, maybe everyone is considered in one big batch--nobody knows what really goes on behind those closed doors

As Emerald says, we're saying the international acceptances came later because they're international, not because Canada is far away. As you yourself told us, they came via FedEx while those in the States were sent USPS. That alone might be the reason they were sent out at a different time.

Anyway, I'm in the Mid-Atlantic and I got my waitlist notification today. I find it a little funny that they want me to accept a spot on the waitlist, but whatever- I'll do it.
 
finally got my letter, waitlisted... which seeing as i never expected an interview I'm psyched.

I got an acceptance at my first choice yesterday so I'm not going to keep the spot, but what a roller coaster week it was waiting for that letter!

Finally got my letter today in Boston. Waitlisted at P&S and Bassett. The wording of the letter is very strange though - it makes it hard to tell if you're on one waitlist or both. Fingers crossed for the next few months! I'd go in a heartbeat. :xf:

My letter was sent to my permanent mailing address where my parents live.
I got waitlisted. mmcD any advice for alternates? I am supposing the good 'ol Letter Of Interest and a new glowing letter of recommendation would help. Any other ideas?
 
Also just got a wait list letter sent to my parents home address. I sent a letter of interest like 2 weeks ago, which was about 2 weeks after my interview since I was in one of the last groups. Should I send a new letter even though my old one was so recent? I don't think I'd have much more to say....
