It's nice to see some jovial life breathed into this thread as the big day(s) draw(s) near. I think I'm sitting in the meat of the curve as far as stats go, so I'm trying not to be too pessimistic or optimistic over the next few days. If there was ever a time I wished the USPS was a 7-day a week service, this would be it.

I'll be drinking my worries away in New Orleans tomorrow, but I'm sure Monday will be a sobering experience no matter the outcome.

Best of luck to everybody.:luck:

Walt and Charlie would be pretty epic WINNING, Duh. So would a combo of say Jon Stewart and Glen Beck or Bill O'Reily.

...sorry (too much "Charlie Sheen")

haha..
Bill Maher and Christine O'Donnell?
Al Gore and Sarah Palin?

You too!!!! enjoy NO.

How crucial are stats @ the post interview stage for Duke?

Wait so Duke already informed MSTP people who got in?

Yeah, the mstp admissions committee makes their decisions earlier than the md committee I suppose. We found out ~ feb 4th by a phone call from the mstp director.

I don't think they're as important as they were in determining the interview. I know that after you interview, each interviewer rates you on a scale of 1-5. Applicants who get 4 or 5 advance to the final round, where the adcom makes their final decision on you.

stop stressin, broooooooooooooooooo

Thanks so much for the response! that's exactly the answer I was looking for... Hm, I wonder HOW on earth I made it past the initial review. 🙂

If they mail out decisions tomorrow, it'll still take a few days to find out . . .
Being from Arizona, I don't anticipate my lucky letter or sad email until Thursday.

These were my thoughts exactly...and my stats are lower than yours...

🙂 well, we all have a chance, don't we? my interviewer actually told me why I was interviewed (she was one of the two who read my file initially)... but wow. still can't believe it.

PS: my stats aren't bad, but my MDapps also doesn't say how many times I took the mcat........

that seems a little odd, since interviews are supposed to be stats blind... you'd think your original reviewer wouldn't be able to interview you.

maybe I misunderstood her, then. It was an intense 70 mins. Perhaps (probably, actually) I merged the how-you-got-an-interview conversation with the what-I-liked-about-your-app conversation. HA.

EDIT: I'm SURE my interviewer had access to my secondary.. and I'd venture to say, my primary, too.

they were stats blind. but i'm pretty sure they had access to our personal statement, our activities (listed in the primaries), and our secondary application.... my interviewer referred to those during the course of the interview....

They definitely had access to our secondaries.

I am 100% that one of my interviewers had access to my stats. On the paper in front of him (I could read upside down) it had my MCAT/GPA written at the very top.

Dean Wallace said that if your interviewer was a member of the "executive" admissions committee (I believe ~25 persons) then they had access to your ENTIRE application including your numbers. Other interviewers were only given your Primary PS and activities and Secondary essays. Someone can correct me if that was wrong.

I interviewed with Brenda Armstrong aka the dean of admissions 😛 She definanlty had access to my whole file, stats and all. THen again, I guess them is the perks of being dean.

That being said, I can't sleep. Very anxious about tomorrow. My interview went really well I felt ( and Ms. Armstrong was very reassuring and said "you're a very competative applicant" I"m sure she says this to everyone but it boosts my ego since my mcat is below average for schools like Duke).

I'm probably going ot be having mini anxiety attacks every time I check my email tomorrow...
For htose who don't know: If you get accepted, you'll get a thick envelope. If you're waitlisted or rejected, you get an email....

hmm, so its morning, sound off, who has checked their mail yet? lol. I refuse to obsessively check my mail till someone has gotten an acceptance, or (hopefully not) i get an email

I wouldn't worry too much today - last year applicants didn't find out until the day after decisions were supposed to be released. That little (1) next to my GMail still freaks me out though... Good luck everyone! :luck:

So are we feeling confident that an e-mail is a waitlist or rejection? And that those should come before the snail mal acceptances arrive? If they mail out today, obviously they won't get around the country for a few days...

I think last year emails came after people started getting acceptances. And who knows they may have mailed it on friday but no SDNer got it yet

hoping to not get an e-mail...

Jeez people, stop bumping this thread! Trying to do some deep-breathing exercises over here 🙂

I highly doubt it was sent on Friday, or some SDNers in the Durham area would have received acceptances on Saturday

yeah that is possible. any Duke students care to find out if they mailed acceptances out yet? would help calm us all down 🙂

This thread is now my homepage. I am parked in front of my desk and shall refresh every minute.

Obsessive-compulsive much?! 😕😕

guys, what if this is not even the week they're planning to notify us.....?!

I'd like to point out that the status page says that admission decisions will be distributed beginning the week of March 7th. So emails may not necessarily be sent today but sometime this week. Likewise for when packages are mailed out.

As a reapplicant who was WL last year, I received the email on March 9th. I also remember that those with virtual interviews heard a little bit later. Hope that helps to clarify matters!

Let the obsessive mail-checking begin

Haha, oh that began on Friday for me, my friend.

NO! Go outside and relax! That's what I'm going to try and do today. I don't know about where you all live, but SoCal is gorgeous today!

ACCEPTED.......

........the fact that we're probably going to have to wait another day or 2 before hearing anything.

Can someone call addmission office to ind out when they send the package out?
