ooh i also interviewed with him (mid-January) and haven't yet heard back... maybe our missing variable is the interviewer?? seems unlikely, but maybe...

😵 I interviewed with him as well... interesting... Though he said that it would only take him a few days to forward my app and his recommendations to the rest of the adcom, so I'm not sure thats it.

And I agree that I don't think they're deciding between WL and rejections. Most schools don't seem to have a problem putting far more people on the waitlist than actually have a realistic shot of getting in. If they were trying to decide between WL and rejection, they'd probably just waitlist all or most of us.

...Maybe waiting to see how many decline initial acceptances so they can send out additional ones? but I guess thats what the WL is for.

+1, maybe all of Roncalli's interviewees will get some pleasant surprises this week🙂

i'm kinda psyched that my hypothesis is holding up! i thought he was such a great interviewer... but he totally seemed like the type of person who would love everyone, so maybe the holdup is the adcom being like "seriously, Dr. Roncalli, we can't admit EVERYONE....please make some decisions!" : P

Well, I guess the ideal question at this point would be to ask if anyone who was already accepted or rejected this cycle interviewed with Dr. Roncalli?

Even if he did recommend everyone, decisions are based on much more than the interviewer's opinion?? There are 20 or so members of the adcom; I was under the impression that the interviewer just forwards his report/opinion to the rest of the adcom for evaluation?

For what it's worth, I didn't interview with Dr. Roncalli and also have not heard anything from Duke...

And I interviewed with Dr. Roncalli back in November and was rejected in the batch last week. I was pretty bummed too because I thought it was by far my best interview of the year but that's just the way it goes I guess 🙂.

Haha, there goes that 😛

I think that the interviewer grades us on a scale of 1 to 8, but I don't know how this would translate since on site interviewees had two interviews and virtual interviewers only had one.

I am so freaking anxious to hear back!!! Aaah.

Anywho, Rock Chalk Jayhawks 🙂

So.... after much deliberation and detective work, we have determined that we know nothing about how these decisions are made and that we'll probably just have to wait 😛

oh yeah i mean obvi there's more involved than just his opinion : P

well, here's to (hopefully) (good) news tomorrow!

Well I was waitlisted as well. Looks like my boyfriend of 5 years and I will not be going to medical school together. =( That was pretty harsh news for me last week, in addition to Duke being my top choice school.

For those who were rejected or waitlisted. Having the passion to go after something in spite of failure is always a much more interesting life story don't you think? The end goal is that we want to become doctors, so I hope that works out for you all.

Congratulations to all those who were accepted!!! My boyfriend will be going to second look weekend so I'm sure I will hear about just how awesome you guys all are!

Congratulations to all who were accepted! Also, Duke is going DOWN on Thursday vs. U of AZ!

I have seen at least one question about the size of the waiting list, but if anyone has hazarded an informed guess, I've missed it. Does anyone know what is typical here?

I dont have numbers, but from the initial round of acceptances last week seems like there were a lot more rejections compared to waitlists than usual for an SDN thread--so I'd guess the waitlist is smaller than most schools. Maybe not by much though.

Duke also interviews more so.. maybe it just went to a normal sized waitlist

Hi. Don't give up yet. I was waitlisted at Duke, and I got in in late July.

So i just spoke with the admission office, and they said all those who haven't heard yet will hear either Thursday afternoon or Friday morning.

Cool.... Thanks for the info. That seems promising... Acceptances on Thursday and rejections/wait lists saturday I would assume.

Hmm... Why do I have the feeling that results won't actually come out then? Oh well, here we go again.

Perhaps they're meeting tomorrow and don't know how long it'll take to decide.

Does anyone know when/how Duke notifies accepted students of merit scholarship awards? I know Duke gives out some big ones. Have any of the already-accepted candidates received a scholarship offer?

have any of the accepted students gotten their package in the mail yet? I thought it was sent out last week.

I received my acceptance packet awhile ago in the mail (west coast here). Can't remember exactly when though..

Anyone here back from AdCom today? Still nothing here.

Yea still nothing here as well. I wouldn't be surprised if nothing is sent out until tomorrow at the earliest if the trend continues as it has with other schools.

That was a depressing game of basketball. I had Duke winning the championship for good waitlist karma. Hope it still happens.

Im not much of a basketball fan but watched the game cos well I aplied to Duke and have friends from AZ, but yeah for a duke fan, that would be a depressing game

Ya but duke basketball fans don't have souls. Don't you need a soul to get depressed?

Hmm I dunno about that. Is there scientific evidence to back up your claim?

It knows it must smile for the picture, but it cannot comprehend the emotion of joy or happiness. It only feasts for opponents' tears and favorable treatment from refs and Duke Vitale.

finally a response. And... waitlisted. Congrats to those accepted!

Sorry to hear that man, you were a trooper for waiting so long.

I still haven't heard back yet. Don't know if that is a good sign or a bad one.

EDIT: Spoke too soon, just got the waitlist letter, must have taken a while for the e-mail to forward or something.

good luck to everyone. make sure you join the facebook group!

It took them 3 weeks to tell me I'm waitlisted.

Congrats to those accepted, y'all are a very qualified class in an awesome school. I'll be reapplying for sure if I'm not miraculously accepted off the list.

On that note, and as others have asked, any info on the WL and chances of movement/how it's organized? Any knowledge would be much appreciated.

My bad, removed the link from my post. Thanks man.

Oh, and now I can speak plainly of my disdain for Duke. 😉 It's better they lost last night, KU would have owned them in the championship anyways. Rock Chalk!
