Wow.... 49.2% did not receive offers. That scares me.

It seems in general only 50% of the apps are accepted each year. Makes you wonder??? I wish they would include info comparing the DPT program/schools applicants and acceptances. It would save a lot of time going not having to go to the different program web sites.

I agree. If it is a centralized site then why doesn't it have this information?

Yes the applicants that filed in 2010 for the start of 2011. Info runs a year behind since this years applicant status is still in progres..

50% sounds great to me!

Of the schools that I am trying for:
25 to 80 slots per school per year
and
500 to 1000 qualified applicants per school per year!

I'm worried about the 50% too....but remember not all schools participate in PTCAS and not applicants meet minimum requirements. Good luck to everyone.

This is so true. We were told that Chatham had around 350 applications last year and over 100 didn't even meet the minimum requirement/get all of their materials turned in to be considered a complete file. So, don't fret about the 50%

I think a 50% chance of getting into a PT school is great compared to the less than 10% chance of getting into MD/DO schools. Even if you don't compare the odds with medical programs, it's still a great shot IMO. I guess it depends on if you view things as the "glass half full" or "glass half empty".

Any theories as to why there are not many minority PT applicants? I'm not making this a race issue by any means. I'm of Asian descent and my theory as to why there aren't many Asian applicants is because, traditionally speaking, the physical therapy occupation is not considered prestigious compared to being a medical doctor a pharmacist.

Well I'm not sure the odds are that different. Most individual PT schools I have looked at accept between 4-10% of students who apply. The 50% is more of a reflection of applying to 5+ schools and getting accepted to at least one.

Yeah the stats are misleading... You can tell just by the mean combined Math and Science GPA that there were some ridiculously low numbers entered in. I am sure some just apply and hope for the best without checking if they meet min requirements.

True. And not all are programs are included in these statistics. The numerous programs that do not participate in the "centralized" application service are missing!!!
