40MegaFonzies... I completely understand, I was worried about the same thing! At the interview though they assured us that interviewing late in the season did not disqualify you for an acceptance. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Maybe this wednesday will be your wednesday?!

My status now says committed and for all of you that already committed, I was wondering how long it takes to hear back from Wright State with background check info and such.

Has anyone gotten any financial aid info?

I submitted my FAFSA early last month and have yet to hear anything. Just wondered the typical time line.

So it's my first post on SDN after being a quiet bystander I just wanted to say how excited I am to be going to Wright State. I interviewed in October and was accepted by November. Even though I am an out of state applicant, I just got the perfect feeling while interviewing with Wright State and it turned out to be my future medical school. So excited! and there is hope for OOS!!🙂

i called the admissions office today....and they said the official waitlist letters will be sent out the end of april or early may....doesn't seem like too far!

I'm also looking for somewhere/someone to possibly live with. I'm considering Ashton Brooke Apartments in Beavercreek. If anyone else is looking or has some feedback regarding this place, I would really appreciate it!

anyone know when financial aid will be given? i am trying to figureo ut what loans i will qualify for. i have been checking wings express but it just says no award at this time

Good luck to those still waiting for news!

I am withdrawing my application, so there will be at least one more spot opening up (OOS). 😎

That makes you my favorite person of the day! haha. Seriously though, assuming you're withdrawing due to other acceptances, congrats!

Interviewed 2/8/2011. got my letter today, stand-by-list. anyone else interview on that day?

the last interview was feb 23, which was 4 weeks ago......i guess all the decisions about the interviwees have been made and mailed. they should be ranking the waitlist soon.

Stand-by is better than nothing! Hope you get a good number on the list.

Interviewed the week after that, no notice yet -- really hope they don't go too far past their 4 week promise for notification since it's been more than 5 already...

They promised 6-8 weeks when I interviewed there.(?) Best the luck to your 40Mega, hope you get your mail very soon.🙂

Haha, always glad to brighten days.
Yep, going to another school; I really liked Boonshoft, though. Wish we could pick more than one school to attend!

just following the posts...
1/26 heard 3/9

did u get a status update about a decision being made?

I checked my status shortly after I made my previous post and it was finally updated.

for those of us on the wait-list, is our rankings fixed yet or is there still time to send in additional updates?

So has no one has heard about financial aid packets yet? I thought something was wrong with my Wings Express thing but okay cool. I'll call tomorrow and see what they say unless someone else already knows.

I emailed a while back... here is a direct quote
"We expect to complete awards notices for all students on April 1, 2011. You will receive an email directing you to Wings Express when your 2011-12 financial aid package is ready to view."

I would guess that there is still time to send in additional updates because the people who interviewed on the very last interview days haven't heard back yet. They will probably finalize the wait list "rankings" some time after that. I don't know that for sure, but that is what I am assuming will occur.

this is what i've been told numerous times when I asked about sending in updates post decision......no updates will help in the ranking process for the waitlist...the ranking we received from the admissions committee stays with us and cannot be changed....the reason for this is that so that others cannot move above us by sending in updates....hope that helps, and i think they'll be foming the official waitlist soon! good luck to those waiting!

That's good to know. Thanks for the information.

wow thanks for the info turkaglew... i wasn't expecting to get any financial aid info from them until May! April 1 sounds so early since tax day hasn't even passed yet

NICE! thank you! looking forward to hearing something. 👍

No problem guys... Don't kill me if I'm wrong though😀... Its 2:45 Ohio time and I still haven't heard anything....

Does anyone want to give an opinion on how chances of getting off the waitlist look? especially for OOS?

i'm interested in this question as well (crosses fingers)

It seems like last year they accepted some people off the bottom third of the waitlist. There is definitely hope! Good luck to all of you waiting to hear back from your interview and for the waitlist to be ranked!:luck:

I just recently decided that I will definitely be attending this summer, and am sooo excited to meet you all!

It doesn't seem like too many current students are posting anything on here...but does anyone know if its common for students to rent houses near the school? I am not much of an apartment complex person, and like the idea of having more space/outdoor area/cheaper rent. Thoughts?

I'd think it would be harder to find a house (with the undergrads wanting to pile all in together) close to campus. Plus, caring for a house takes a lot more work than an apartment...but I'm sure you'll be able to find someone/a few people who'd be willing to go in for the extra time and money. I'd check with the university -- seems like they are pretty good about being a resource for housing and apartments.

Your options are pretty much endless from what I have heard. When I interviewed I stayed with a student and we met up with some other people. They practically all had different living situations. Some lived in residence halls, houses, apts, you name it. I'd check out craigslist if your looking to rent a house...

IIRC, our class was roughly 25% OOS this year. How many of those were from the waitlist, I'm not sure. But I think that was a bit higher than what WSU typically averages.

As far as house rentals, I looked into that before starting up and there's plenty of reasonably priced options in Fairborn, Kettering, and Belmont if that's what you're looking for. Craigslist should have listings.

any recent acceptance or stand-by decisions? this thread doesn't seem to be moving much lately.

good luck to all those still waiting patiently to hear about the waitlist rankings.

in my interview, the guy told me that last year everyone got off the waitlist. the year before that, nobody did. who knows what will happen.

you would think we would start finding out in may who is getting off the waitlist instead of where we rank on the waitlist. my many years of applying to medical school, the majority were getting pulled off the list in may.

so here's hoping we get our ranking soon so we can hopefully get off the waitlist in starting in may.

Anyone here from fin aid last week? I was expecting an email Friday and still nothing...

well its great if we all get off the waitlist.....right now i am hoping to be ON that waitlist and not be rejected from it.

as for the year no one got off....i think that was when WSU accepted way too many and did not need to fill the class from the waitlist....hopefully they didn't do that this time!

Do you know for sure we won't know our ranking on the waitlist until May? I heard that we would hear at the end of this month earlier on this board

I haven't heard anything either so you arent alone! Hopefully a government shutdown wont slow down federal financial aid even more...

I called the admissions office today. They said the waitlist has been made and the letters will be sent out in ten days. Now I'm nervous...

Hope I get good news and wish the same to all the other standbyers!

that's good news! i was thinking that we wouldn't find out too until the end of this month/begin of may about ranking's. which seems late to me. but maybe that's just the school?

no, this is my first time appyling to WSU. i had been waitlisted for the past 4 years! so i am a pro at the waitlist. 🙂 in the past, we knew our ranking ahead of time and people were being pulled off by next month.

good luck everyone!!! hope we hear some good news and start getting off the list!

To those of you who have signed onto Wings Express:

When you tried to look for financial aid info, did it make you answer some questions regarding something called Title IV (something to do with the school using your loan money to pay for stuff?). What do you answer for this? I'm confused. Also, does anyone know when we are supposed to have paid the deposit to hold our spot? I'm paranoid I was supposed to have paid them already, ha.

I just said 'yes' to those questions (or whatever the answer was in the affirmative) - I don't know what it means and I don't think it matters what you answer.

As far as deposit, there isn't one. Trust me, if they wanted our money right now, they'd be telling us - often. 😉

STILL waiting for finaid info to show up. I feel like award notices should be available by now, but then I don't really remember back 6 years ago when I was waiting on my first undergrad award notice.

Excited to meet you in the class next year! 👍

Thanks! ...for the info and peace of mind about the deposit, ha. Look forward to meeting you this summer, as well!

smashweights, do you remember if your waitlist rank letter came in a large or small envelope?
