smashweights or any other current students... Does Wright recommend a specific stethoscope? Do they require you to get a cardio grade steth or will a Littman Classic suffice?
there is no requirement for what scope you get. you won't need your medical equipment for the first month or so and then you'll get a list of equipment to buy during ICM. They also have an equipment sale around the end of Sept for you to buy everything you need. If you already have a stethoscope, you'll be fine.

Congrats on those graduating today!
+1 👍 we'll be there in a few short years....
Definitely seems a lot longer away than a "few short years". Haha. Especially considering that we haven't even started yet.+1 👍 we'll be there in a few short years....

Just wait til you're a week from finishing 1st year and feeling like you just started med school last week... 😕😱

Hey everybody,
First time posting, so go easy on me please haha... Got offered a place off the waitlist a couple weeks ago and officially accepted yesterday, so it looks like I'll be joining the Class of 2015 at WSU! I'm super excited to get my medical education here as I just loved everything about the school and the people there.
Anyways, I haven't received my WSU email/password yet and haven't been able to fill out a profile and check out the rest of the class, but I'm just in a rush to find a place to live and roommate as soon as possible. I know there's an excel file or something that the med school sends to you that has everyone else's profile and living situation, but I don't think I'll be able to access that for another week or two. I went down to Dayton two weekends ago and checked a few apartment complexes out and they are filling up fast, so basically I wanted to know the best way to match up with a roommate (preferably an M1 as well)?
I don't mean to be too forward, but if anyone in the Cleveland area is willing to meet up for a beer or something I'd definitely be down for that. It might just be a good way to meet fellow first-years and potentially find a roommate. It's just one less thing to worry about haha... Ok, thanks guys!

Try signing up for the facebook group page. I see a lot of advertisements in there.

Iso... does this mean you actually created a facebook account?? 😛
Yes actually though I only use it to check the FB group. So if you're looking for me, I'm the one with no FB profile. 😀
Fair enough. I have my privacy settings really stringent, so I think all you can see is my picture and where I went to college. 👍
Do any of you have the link to the 2011-12 health insurance forms? All I can find is the 2010-11 one. http://www.med.wright.edu/students/insurance

Coincidentally, I was also looking at this today. I can't find the up-to-date ones either. 👎
Just got the call that I was accepted off the waitlist but I'm at work so I couldn't answer. So excited!

Can anyone reccommend any good apartment complexes around the school/are there any to stay away from? I haven't looked at all I just wondered if anyone could give me a place to start haha.
Congrats to those who just got in off the waitlist! 👍
doit4themunki: There are lots of apartments complexes within a 10-15 minute drive from WSU. I suggest joining the Facebook group where there's a good discussion brewing (just search Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine Class of 2015). But, if you don't wanna do that, here's my synopsis of quality apartments in no particular order -
1. Mallard Landing ($850/mo for 2 bed, 2 bath)
2. The Promenade ($950/mo for 2 bed, 2 bath on avg)
3. The Reserve at Channingway ($825/mo for 2 bed, 2 bath)
4. Ashton Brooke ($800-900/mo for 2 bed, 2 bath) - very popular location, which is why I decided against it 😛
5. Wexford on the Green ($750-800/mo for 2 bed, 2 bath)
6. Immediately off-campus apts w/ lots of undergrads, idk the names ($550-750/mo)
There are lots of others, but this'll at least give you a starting place!

Some of those places are filled with long waitlists, especially close to campus. This was 3-4 weeks ago when I was apt hunting.
Just FYI.

oh shoot! that sucks! there are also places near The Greene and down in the Centerville/Kettering area closer to UD. it just makes the hike a bit longer on those 8 am days.
also, just remembered - I know someone living at Yorktown Colony which is actually in Riverside. he says it doesn't seem so crowded. the upside, rent for a 1 bed, 1 bath is like $450 (dirt cheap). the downside, the complex is noisy and not very nice...
it's only about 10 mins from campus, past the AFB. 👍
Finally decided on Wright. See you all in 6 weeks 😀😀😀😀

Congrats!
Also, health insurance enrollment forms are up for 2011-2012.
Congrats to the new acceptees! If you're finding a lot of apt waitlists, you can also check out the Properties at Wright Field, about 6 minutes from campus on colonel glenn. $725/mo. 2 bed, 1.5 bath w/garage and no pet fees. The soon-to-be wife and I are living there.

congrats guys! great to know there's some movement on that list.... those of you that got the offer, are you set on attending WSU or are you going elsewhere? did they also tell you anything about financial aid?
congrats once again!
I withdrew my application last week. So that's one more spot available.
Anyone get their financial aid disbursement?
We don't get it til August 15 per the most recent email - boo.
