Hello fellow 2011-2012 derm applicants! I know it's early for derm interviews, but I thought I'd go ahead and create the (hopefully) official interview thread for this interview season. Looking at last year's thread, seems like the first interviews started rolling in around mid-late October.

Was thinking we could list, by state:

Wow, I did not realize that the interview offers were so late. I knew they were late, but that is awfully late. It makes it really difficult if you are couples matching... my boyfriend will have to pick all his interviews before I even know what mine are.

Oh well, so much for that. :rolleyes:

End of Nov/Beginning of Dec is when I got most of my offers. I think my first offer was end of October, and my last offer was Jan 5th. Considering that MS4s I'm working with now who are going IM already had several invites a few weeks ago, Derm is indeed very late...but it is what it is.
 
It is super late! But at least it's good to know that's the case and that we're not alone, right? Was starting to feel a little self-conscious around my other non-derm friends with dozens of interviews!

5) you are just that good

Well, whichever it is, I am even more nervous/stressed to hear that you have an interview lined up before I even thought was possible.

If you look through the list from last year there are always a few programs that offer interviews before the dean's letter goes out, usually WHC and UMDNJ. The earlier dates/invites for Georgetown/WHC are usually for previous rotators.
 
For the last couple of years, WHC has offered an end-of-October/early-November interview date to regional applicants. For my year, I think this included Georgetown/WHC, George Washington, UVA, VCU, EVMS, and maybe the Maryland schools. No need to worry yourself sick if you are outside that area, they continue their interviews once Dean's letters come out - just like everyone else!

Yes, WHC told me that if I can't do this date, wait for another email for future dates. It seems like they will def be emailing more invites out. I never rotated there but it makes sense that it's regional since I'm only 2 hours away from there.
 
Let's make a google calender of these interviews so we can efficiently schedule. Please PM your gmail and I'll add permission for you to edit. Initially we'll need some elbow grease to add all the info from all the sites.

I almost did an away there as well. I guess I lucked out and chose a different program.

No need to be annoyed. Dean's letters haven't even been sent out yet. UIC is my home program so I'm sure the internal candidates got early interview invites. I put this up just so people knew what interview dates they offered. Sorry if I caused any unnecessary stress. it wasn't my intention

This whole process is full of unnecessary stress, particularly for us Derm applicants. Congrats on your interview (even if it's your home program and they happen to offer them almost by default to you or whatever, it's still exciting).
 
So I just spoke with an attending at UIC whom I got a LOR from and she said they just received a stack of applications to review and have yet to figure out who to even invite. She has no idea how people are already invited.

I guess maybe internal applicants get first invites? Wow this process is making me neurotic. Pathetic...

It's ultimately up to you what you want to believe on an anonymous forum. I'm not sure what there is to really gain from posting up false information on interview dates. As I said in the previous post, I most likely got an early interview invite because it's 1) my home institution and 2) I've done research for the chair/PD. I posted the interview dates in the spirit of helping others plan their schedule accordingly. Several of the programs have listed their interview dates on the websites as well, so if you're as skeptical as the tone of your post suggests, please confirm it with the website.

I should have said interview invitations not "dates." The GUH/WHC date I posted is correct.
