For people who haven't gotten a secondary yet, check your spam folder. I was verified on 7/29 and just received my secondary today but it was in my spam folder.

seems like its random when they send out secondaries and not in order of verification....

still haven't received secondary. lol.

should we worry at this time if we were complete 7/26 and haven't received a status update yet?

My application was completed 7/25 and my status still reads "no decision has been made." I had a dream last night that Drexel called me for an invite. Pathetic?

i sent an update to the medadmis email, did they specifically say only to send to medstat email?

That should be fine. I don't remember which email address exactly, since I applied last year.

Drexel is pretty slow so it could be two or three months before you hear back. It took me about three months last year to go from complete --> invite, and my status was "no decision" the entire time in between. You're probably fine as long as you don't get the hold message, and even then there were some people who got invites after holds last year!
Good luck! :luck:

😍Interview Invite!!😍

3.57 GPA, 29Q, C: 7/31, II: 8/31

Yay!

Stealth interview invite!

ISS, 34Q, 3.8/3.8

:luck: to those still waiting!

So...I am interviewing on Sept. 22 and will be arriving on the night of Sept 21. I will be arriving by train to 30th Street Station in Philadelphia (ZFV?). Is anyone familiar with this place? It will be my first time in Philadelphia and so I really don't know where I should go from here. Does anyone know of the student host program?

30th street station is the Amtrak station. From there, you transfer to regional rail (SEPTA).

I'm interested in this too.
There is a student host program, but we are just in the process of getting it organized now. Once the program is set up for this year, you should be able to get a list of students who are hosting from the admissions office. If you're interviewing early, the program might not be up and running in time for you. I seem to remember this being the case last year too. I think the hosts may be all first year students, so keep in mind they've been giving us time to settle in!

For those who aren't interested in staying with a student, there's also a B&B near campus that many students stayed at which would give you breakfast in the morning and drive you to your interview. I don't remember the name exactly, but it's repeated many times in last year's thread.

The SEPTA line you would transfer to would depend on where you are staying. There is a train station right near the medical campus. However, many students live downtown so if you're staying with a student host, you would have to find out where that host lives first. I would hope that anyone who is hosting would help you figure it out 🙂

Hmmm, not to speak out of turn since I don't know how the Drexel admissions office works, but I was able to get a student host for my mid to late September interview. I called the admissions office last week to inquire about the student hosting program and within an hour or two I received an email from the office with an attached excel spreadsheet listing current medical students of my gender who are willing to host prospective students. I've contacted a student from the list and already arranged to stay with them. So based on my recent experience, it definitely is possible to stay with a student host, even for the early interview dates. I think people just need to call or email the admissions office directly about it.

Good to know it's already up and running. I think I was late in responding to that e-mail, I just haven't seen anything new about it during the past few days. 🙂 Good luck at your interview!

Anyone notice that the average graduate debt here is over $200,000? I feel that their motto should be, "yes, we'll accept you and your sub-par stats, but get ready to pay a small fortune when you graduate!"

I emailed them last week about the Student Host Program and did not receive a reply. I think I will call them and speak to them directly, seems like it is the best way to get back a response.

Most private med schools have tuitions >$40,000/year. So that's $160,000 just for tuition, not counting living expenses. Drexel likely has less rich kids whose parents are paying their way, hence the higher "average indebtedness" (which, btw, is a useless statistic since you don't know how many had to take out 100% loans and how many people had help from family).

OOS public schools can be just as brutal in terms of tuition. UIC is $70K total for tuition alone.

Has anyone gotten a secondary today. I was verified 8/2 and still haven't gotten one and I know there are people verified before me that still haven't gotten one.

For anyone that is interested....I just received my secondary today. I was verified on the 25th of july

Drexel's COA was identical to that of the OOS Public school I'm now attending. During our fin aid presentation they said the average student graduates with 150K from public medical schools.

Sub-par stats? I take offense to that...my classmates are all intelligent people, and nobody had sub-par stats. The average MCAT and GPA for Drexel are in sync with those of many schools.

Tuition is like at any private medical school. Go out of state to a public school and you'll pay even more. At least here, housing is covered during your clinical rotations.

If one's application was considered complete mid/late July, is it recommended to contact medstat and convey more interest in Drexel?

verified on july 28th and just received a secondary... is it even worth applying here anymore? i feel like its too late in the cycle

Invite! Didn't receive an email yet, it was on the status page. Complete 8/3.

People have been receiving the secondary at different times. So I don't think you would be considered late. Definitely hand it in if you are still interested.

Not too late. I submitted in October and my had secondary in by early November. But the earlier the better, of course.

i haven't received word from 2 potential student hosts. anyone else having this trouble?

I think I'm gonna email another one today.

For one of my interviews I emailed five potential hosts and only one was able to host me on that specific day. So if I were you, I would email a couple more people, just in case 🙂

Gonna mass email then 🙂

I emailed the entire male student host list and nobody responded or was able to host me.

Just checked my status page and... voila! Nice surprise after getting a reject from Georgetown... c'est la vie

This was for a different school, not Drexel. I was just giving an example. I haven't heard anything from Drexel :xf:

I still have no decision, and I was complete July 28th.. 😕

Also sent my application in on July 28th and no word yet. I really hope I hear something soon, I really want to go to Drexel.

All the first years have major exams this week or next, so you might have a wait for a response.

I'm officially a host now, so feel free to PM me if you're looking for someone to stay with.

your advice worked! thanks docbrill, hope to have a school that interviews both of us at the same time 🙂

Lotta Drexel haters, my man.

Sweet! I like the sound of free housing 🙂

Looking forward to the interview.

Need to practice practice practice...😎
