Can someone post the questions they asked in the interview? Is there a thread that has interview questions from different schools?

May I ask what the hold is exactly. I received a complete email yesterday, but my status has said my file is complete and ready to review for over 3 weeks.

my file said the "complete and under review" i believe. eventually it changed to "we will consider you again at a future date and make a final decision" (it is not word for word accurate, but from my memory).

Thanks. I was just wondering if you received an email about your status, but it seems like its just a status update.

So, from what I hear, there are these types of statuses u can have:
1. no decision is made. check back regularly.
2. hold
3. under review.

I am still no decision since 8/8. i hear people are receiving emails for complete application. I have not received that email. Should I be worried?

I submitted my secondary on 8/11 and for weeks now my online status has said, "Your file is complete and will be reviewed."
Weirdly, I also got an e-mail yesterday saying my file was complete. We're in the same boat, Ultimate12.

+2

I thought it was very strange to get that e-mail...but apparently they are really far behind in applications this year.

I interviewed this week. My faculty interview was very conversational and I feel that the questions I was asked were specific to my essays/activities. Oh, and she was was sooo nice!

The student interview was during lunch and was also very conversational. The student was a first-year, so he's only been at the school for like 5 weeks, but he was knowledgeable, helpful, and seemed like the kind of classmate I would want.

PM me if any of you have questions about the interview day.

I would love an acceptance here!

invite! complete 8/29/11

First interview! I was getting so discouraged.

Congrats and good luck Chopped! Anyone else going to be there 10/5?

So I submitted 7/25 and got a confirmation of fee payment but no "complete email" that people are talking about...And my status is "no decision has been made". Has everyone who has a different status previously received a complete email? Worried.

EDIT: NVM I see some people got interviews without a complete email. I never saw the "ready for review" status though..

Does anyone know the best way to get from Drexel to NYU?

Does anyone know the best way to get from Drexel to NYU?

Regional Rail from Queen Lane --> 30th Street Station
Then take Amtrak or MegaBus/Bolt Bus --> NYC

You pick up Amtrak in 30th Street Station, and the buses are right outside on JFK Boulevard (use the exit that faces westbound). The buses are cheaper, but during peak hours they may run a bit behind.

When am I going to get a secondary? I was verified mid-August and I sent Drexel an email more than three weeks ago, asking about when I can expect to receive a secondary, with no response. What's up???

Drexel was a little later when they sent me my secondary. I received mine about a month after my primary was verified, so I would expect yours to come in pretty soon.

lol just curious, do they provide breakfast during check in?

and what was the essay topic? is it the same for everyone

No breakfast, but a good lunch.

There was more than one essay question; all of them involved some sort of ethics problem.

Just submitted. Let the waiting game resume!

I like the use of "resume" not begin. It's never ending really isn't it?
Good luck with your application!

I was complete on 8/11...

hey i was complete around then too, did you call them or send an update or just wait and kept checking the status page?

I hope i get an interview!!!!

Is everyone getting emails or just status updates?

fyi to everyone after looking at last year's cycle among other things two things stood out to me greatly regarding drexel:
1) last year approximately 13,000 (about 1/3 of all national applicants) applied to drexel for a class of approximately 260
2) last years usmle step I mean for drexel was >230
how is it possible that anyone can view this as a safety school? If anything these statistics seem terrifying to me as an applicant ?!

A "Safety School" doesn't exist in medical school admissions. However, some schools traditionally get a huge number of applicants (many who apply "just in case" they don't get in anywhere and many who are borderline applicants and want to apply to schools where they have the best chance stats-wise) because their mean GPA/MCAT are among the lowest for US allopathic medical schools. I am not saying Drexel is / is not among these schools, but that generally seems to be the definition of a safety school on SDN.

People on SDN are definitely special. They tend to think they are Gods gift to medical schools. Drexel is by no means a "safety school"

Thanks for the congrats! I love this school and am so excited to interview! Anyone going 10/27?

My status was updated online to-

Thank you for applying to Drexel University. A letter will be mailed to your preferred address with status information.

Should I be expecting a rejection/hold if it's coming via snail mail?

I thinking that isn't good news. Seems like other people's "hold" has a status that says something about re-evaluating later.

My status says, "Thank you for your application. Your file has been reviewed and will be re-evaluated later in the season for a final decision." Not sure if this is different than what you have. Usually snailmail letters are a bad sign unless they are post-interview.

Okay, I'm a few cycles removed from the application process, but this might help some of you make sense of the status messages. Forgive me if there are some in-between statuses that I'm forgetting. It's been a while.

Pre-interview message "Letter will be mailed" = rejection
Pre-interview message "Re-review later" = hold

Once you've had your interview, you will get a few different status messages:

Thank you for scheduling your interview -> Under review by a member of the ADCOM -> Under review by the committee -> Decision reached, letter mailed

This can culminate in a rejection, acceptance or waitlist.

"Under review by a member of the ADCOM" means a single person is looking over your application and they will present it to the committee later.

"Under review by the committee" means that your application has reached the committee room and they'll look over and vote on it.

Thanks for the clarification. Do you know if an interview can happen from the hold status? From past threads it seems this is unlikely.

EDIT (courtnes): Decision reached, letter mailed clarification - it may say "a final decision" has been reached (acceptance or rejection) or just that "a decision"has been reached - this is how it appeared to work out last year.

This is what I heard about decisions after the interview:

Status:

Final Decision has been made:
1. If you get a big envelope in the mail, you got accepted
2. Small envelope, rejected

A decision has been made:
Waitlist

Good luck to everyone who has interviewed! Decisions will be sent out October after the 15th!

Hey does anyone know how Drexel responds to "In the area" emails? Im from the west coast and have an interview at temple in a few weeks and wondered if anyone thought they were receptive to these emails. Trying to save money during this process you know.

doesn't hurt to try. Many schools are receptive to in the area emails.

Anyone know how many applicants get an interview after being on hold? Roughly that is. Just wanted to know if I should still have hopes for an interview..

I tried it. I never even got a response to my email at all, and got put on hold.

Who's interviewing on 10/7? I'm stoked - also I have interviewed here before, so if anyone has questions, I might take a shot at them.
