if i were you i would probably shoot an email or phone call to check whats going on... it has been over 2 months...rite ?

i did call and they said a decision hasn't been reached yet. Interviewees after me are getting decisions though

Lucky you! I interviewed on 11/17 and I'm still with a member. It's been 9 weeks 🙁

Not if I get rejected! Being patient is the worst part of this whole process... I guess it depends on the timing of your interviewer getting his/her assessment in and the adcom member reviewing your file.

Fingers crossed for ya

..it is very stressful..

i also interviewed on 12/7 and thankfully I am with the ad com..

.i still think that they are understaffed given they have thousands of applications..

do the statuses specifically say you are with a member of the committee? mine just says if you have appeared for your interview, your file will be progressing though the committee

That's the one that comes after your status. I'm at the 3rd status: "Your file is currently under review by the admissions committee."

Hi, I graduated from DUCOM this past year, and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I was in IFM, and was very involved in admissions, and student government. To answer your question, it is definitely easier to switch from PIL to IFM after the first year, because one of the big differences between the two tracks is that PIL has an intro to physical exam component during the first year, while IFM has it in the second year. So, if you make the switch into PIL after first year, then you will need to do physical diagnosis somewhere in there. That's not to say it can't be done. The administration is awesome, and they will work with you to make it happen. My suggestion to you, however, of you are thinking at all about PIL, you should see what it's like during orientation.

If you have other questions, feel free to ask!

That's because your application won't go to committee for review until your interviewer submits his/her evaluation to the admissions office. Some interviewers are notoriously slow. Any delay in your status being updated to committee review has nothing to do with the quality of your application. Hope that gives you some peace of mind.

For those who have received decisions, about how long does it take to get a decision after you've been sent to the adcom?

My interview is not for a few more weeks, but I want to update the school with a transcript containing the grades for the summer and fall semesters. Do you guys think I should send it beforehand, or take it personally when I go for my interview? Thanks.

+1! I got an interview invite via status update yesterday after being on pre-interview hold for months. Sent a letter of interest a week and a half ago and it's nice to think that it might have actually made a difference.

Also... thanks to whoever canceled their interview on Thursday ;-)!

Spike 55, Congrats on the interview invite! Question for you ... did they confirm that they recieved your update or not? Ive sent in a few updates but never received a confirmation ... wanted to make sure that this is normal with this school. Thanks

They did not give me any confirmation of receiving my update. So I would assume that they are receiving yours.

It can vary. Last year (albeit much later in the cycle) it took a few weeks (for me).

I interviewed early November, and my status still says I'm with a member of the committee--- i should definitely be with the committee by now! Getting tired of waiting, was one of my top choices, but this is aggravating.

Are the interview spots all filled up?
and is it still to late to send updates and letter of interests to the school? I have been in the postponed position for a while now...

Be patient :luck:

As others have mentioned above your "decision time" is decided by how fast your interviewer submits their evaluation of you.

I believe there is one more step (I'm pretty sure it was Drexel that does this), .....after your interviewers submit their evals someone takes your entire application, combs through it, and writes a finalized impression. This and youre entire application THEN goes to the committee for final decision. As you can imagine this could take even longer than the inteviewer's evaluation.

Yes - Drexel does that

they told us at the interview that the waitlist is ranked

Yes, it is ranked, and no, they won't tell you where you're ranked. Keep showing interest if you're really into Drexel - updates, etc - I'm pretty sure we were told that all of that is taken into account when ranking the WL in addition to your file.

I know Allegheny General Hospital (AGH) is one of Drexel' clinical rotation sites.

Does anyone know whether this site is available for third year rotations???

because when I go into AGH's website, it says it provides clinical clerkship for seniors of Drexel Med.

My interviewer told me that AGH might no longer be available by 2013 because of Temple. But admissions told me they were not sure on that. Does anyone know whether this is going to be the case or not?

I interviewed last Tuesday (1/17), and my file was with a member of the committee that very night. I just got the status that my file is under review by the admissions committee today. This process is going a lot quicker than I thought it would! I really hope this is a good thing! This is wishful thinking, but has there ever been a time in which someone got a decision within 2 or 3 weeks of their interview?

Hey folks,

I interviewed here on 10/18 and received the 'with a member of the adcom' status a week or two after my interview. However, it wasn't until a week ago that I actually got the 'with the adcom' status....So it has effectively been over 13 weeks, granted there were 2 holidays since then, 3 if you count Halloween 😉

That being said, has anyone gotten a status update today? Please post here as soon as you do. I'm wondering if I've been skipped again this round!

Thanks!

Interviewed a few weeks ago and status is now "Your file is currently under review by the admissions committee."

Does people do it???
If they do, is the international rotation sites affiliated with Drexel? or not necessarily so.

Currently, it is a full year regional site (ie, you can do all your MS3 clerkships there). However, Temple is inaugurating a satellite medical school with West Penn Allegheny Health System, the parent organization of AGH. As your interviewer and the admissions office have pointed out, it not known whether Drexel will lose this affiliation site. (Hopefully not).

Yes, during MS4, you have the opportunity to do away (including international) rotations, like at all US medical schools. If you wish to go abroad, you will probably have to orchestrate--and fund---that on your own.

Does anyone know if DUCOM has exams the week of the Feb. 26? I emailed a few students on the student host program, a couple of weeks ago, and I haven't heard back yet. I understand they're probably busy, but I'v also considered the possibility they might not be hosting due to exams. Thoughts or comments? Thanks.

I know that PIL students do have an exam that day/week. Don't know about IFM students

Thanks! I'm really hoping to find a host because I'm really low on funds... still very excited though!!! 😀

You're starting to run into spring breaks that week.

PIL-1: week of 2/26 (exams the week before)
IFM-1: week of 3/25 (they have exams throughout the month, don't know if one's around your date)
PIL-2: week of 3/18
IFM-2: week of 3/11

For residency interviews, if you enter more competitive fields many of the programs won't even pay for your parking for the interview day. People who are interviewing for less competitive residencies are getting free hotels, parking, meals, gifts, etc.

This is true. Having finished all my interviews, I am now in posession of more travel mugs than I could ever hope to use in a lifetime.

"A decision has been reached" Interviewed 10/5.

i waited four in a half months to get waitlisted.

I got the final decision status... how many people have been rejected at this point? What are my odds of being rejected vs. accepted?

Stats are 3.70/3.94, 34R MCAT, Slightly below avg EC but good LoR, PS, and explanation of activities

Let me know what u guys think!
