rent a car. cheaper than a taxi 2ways.
Rental cars are pretty reasonable at RDU, in my experience. 👍

Hi, what's the fastest/cheapest way to get from the airport (RDU) to campus? For
those who took a taxi/ or shuttle how much did it cost?
Anybody have insight on what to expect with the virtual interview? Will it just be like a traditional interview, or will the interviewer ask MMI-type questions?
M.D. Class of 2016
While I don't know what you should expect based on personal experience, it seems as if you would get MMI sorts of questions to maintain consistency in the evaluation process.
Yea, that makes a lot of sense.
When did Duke say they would send out decisions? Was it March 5 or March 15?

I was told March 5th this morning.
Anyone want to make predictions? I bombed about 1/2 of this MMI so I say I'm mostly rejected post-interview with a hint of waitlist.
I think I feel the same. That MMI thing was crazy.
The guy said they don't use their waitlist at all - they haven't for the past 3 years I believe
... so perhaps two weeks from today we will start hearing admission decisions???

the spirit catches me and I fall down?Best to not think about it young lad, just let the decision come and sweep over you

Why do you say that Cinclus? From what I gathered you are an excellent applicant! So in 2 weeks, I predict I will receive the news of < or = waitlist.

yep!So, Duke will send snail mail for those who are accepted, but email for those who are waitlisted/rejected? (or at least that's what the status page seems to suggest...?)
Well, I hope you two are correct, but...I doubt my performance.

i agree, i enjoyed all partnership during the interview and all conversations throughout the day! it was the most diverse and humble group of people i interviewed with.My best advice is to not think about how you did. I am convinced that it is impossible to predict your performance with the MMI. I also did the MMI at Cincinnati and thought I completely bombed it. On one station, I realized I was playing with my shoelace when my interviewer was staring at my foot. The rest of the stations I felt like I showed little to no confidence in my answers. End result was an acceptance.
I thought I did well at Duke's MMI, but there seems to be an inverse relationship between my actual performance and my believed performance.
Either way, congratulations on your very successful cycle and best of luck to everyone else! I honestly liked the other applicants I interviewed with at Duke more than any other school. 🙂
Yep. I'd say their secondary did its job.most diverse and humble group of people i interviewed with.

That's certainly what their website says, but I distinctly remember this question coming up at my interview day, and someone (Richard, I think) basically said that that's how they've done it in years past but that this year they were just going to do everything electronically, acceptance notifications included. I interviewed earlier this month.
So maybe they changed their mind and the website it right. Or maybe they're just using the same message text from last year... *sigh*... either way, my capacity to be overly anxious or neurotic has been thoroughly exhausted over the past 10 months. We'll find out soon enough.
Did anyone else that interviewed relatively recently hear something similar, that it'd be all electronic? Best of luck to everyone!! 🙂
oh my... I was not gonna check my email during my work hours on 3/5 just in case it's a bad news..but now getting an e-mail from Duke that day can be a good news???
....maximum neurotic stages begins... 😛
Finally joined sdn bc I am so nervous about the duke decisions and I have to check this constantly to see when y'all get mailings! But the consensus now is that everyone is getting an email no matter the decision?
are you guys just guessing that it will be march 5th, or did they say that at your interview days? i interviewed in october and don't remember them giving a date that decisions would go out. the website just says early march.
If it means anything, last year the website also said email for waitlist/rejections and snail mail for acceptances, but ALL notifications went out via email (wait/rej/acc) on March 15.
My heart dropped when I saw an email from Duke in my inbox, thinking it could only be bad news, but what a complete 180 when i actually opened it 🙂
I have no idea what the date will be (March 5 seems to be consistent based on what you guys have been told), but I strongly suspect that ALL decisions will be electronically conveyed on that date. Acceptances will of course get snail mail later on with all the instructions for deposits and whatnot.
Not sure if that clears anything up or makes it worse since I don't know for sure...but there you have it.
