just interviewed here yesterday. did anyone else have a really stressful interview? All i've heard was about how conversational they are, but my guy was definitely pushing buttons. hopefully it was just to see how i would handle it :/. either way, future here is looking dim.

If it makes you feel better, I had a really stressful interview, didn't think I had a snowball's chance in hell, and now I'm an M2 at Georgetown. There is a particular interviewer who actually gives oral boards for residents, and he is trained to not show emotion and ask those "button pushing" questions. Sounds like you had him. It's not that he doesn't like you, its just that he is trained not to show you what he thinks. He is very nice outside of interviews, I promise.

First time using SDN. So my app was marked complete of 9/6 and I have yet to hear anything. I have a 3.92 GPA and a 34R MCAT....why is it taking so long and when can I hear??????

I was complete 8/17 and got an II about a week ago. Based on reading this thread, I think they send invites every three weeks on Tuesday or Wednesday. Be patient! 😀 If you've been rejected you will hear sooner than if you're offered an interview.

I was complete in 9/20 and I haven't heard back at all from Gtown. I hope the MightySmiter is right 🙂

Complete around a similar time -- and haven't heard yet either.

Thanks! I am so ridiculously nervous about this. I really want to go to Georgetown~

I got put on the waitlist and was about to submit an update/interest letter. I thought I remembered Ms. Sullivan saying to email the letters to her but have the letter addressed to Dr. Lauerman (I wrote this down somewhere and cannot seem to find it now of course). Does this seem correct?

Yup- that's correct. Address the letter to Dr. Lauerman, and send it to Ms. Sullivan.

Good luck!

Good luck to everyone with their interviews. I will be withdrawing my acceptance next Monday, so I hope it goes to one of you SDN'rs. Best of luck!

👍👍

If you are on the waitlist, be sure to write a letter about how GT is your number one choice. Almost every person I know from SDN over the past 11 years who ended up going there wrote a letter of intent. The peopel who got in without writing one ended up choosing a different school.

I wonder if people who applied literally at the deadline (me) have a chance at interview/acceptance... 8/

i'm guessing there should be the next round of decisions this upcoming thursday?

Decisions, maybe. Releases of decisions, nope.

Firstly, they don't release the results of their decisions on the day they decide..takes a while to get everything into the computers and all loaded. It would be Monday at the earliest.

Secondly, if they decided to skip this week's meeting all together due to Thanksgiving and couldn't meet at a different time, then the Monday after next would be your earliest bet.

If I remember correctly, at my interview we were told that they were only meeting once in the month of November due to scheduling issues. I would presume that was earlier this month and there is no meeting due to the holiday. Next meeting coming up would be December.

I have an interview coming up here. How can I get student housing?

anyone know what interview dates the committee is making decisions on?

Being that the round before me was up to mid September, and my round was from mid September to the end of the month, my guess is that it will be from early to mid November..possibly more depending on if they adjust for the time lost by only meeting once this month

cool I interviewed on oct. 21. I wonder if many people are being accepted without being waitlisted.

Am I the only one that thinks Georgetown is taking an exorbitantly long time to review our applications? I was marked complete 9/22 and was told that the review time is between 4 and 10 weeks with the majority being between 6 and 8 weeks. Dec 1st will be 10 weeks... Come on; this is getting ridiculous. 3.77(3.81s)/36

Take a chill pill.... med schools are slow. period.

Well, Georgetown doesn't really have the best of admissions staff.

But I wouldn't worry. There is plenty of time before you really need the letter in your hand.

I'm on the same boat....it's a long shot and may cause an unnecessary dent in the wallet but it doesn't hurt to try...

rejected, complete early september. 35 and 3.9. Disappointed they didn't give me an interview - I was interested in living in DC. Oh well.

Exactly, will never have a chance if you don't apply. good luck!

I was complete a little before you and still haven't heard anything. They already rejected some people from that time frame, so I am just hoping they are slower at sending interview invites than rejections. :xf:

Interview this week! Really nervous- all of my interviews have resulted in waitlistings so far 🙁
Can those who have interviewed share your experiences? The interview feedback pages don't seem to be working...

For the waitlist (Competitive Applicant Pool) they will start reviewing them at the end of January or early February and acceptances go out to CAP people in February. I would recommend getting the supplemental letter in as soon as possible but definitely by mid-January.

A significant number of the class are accepted off of the waitlist so don't be discouraged.

Thanks for the info! Do you know if this applies to most schools? I mean, if you are waitlisted, can it really make a difference to send a "letter of continued interest"?

My interview was interesting. I was very nervous since GU is one of my top choice schools. My interviewer seemed to stare me down which made it one of my most uncomfortable interview so far. His questions though weren't too difficult, except I went blank on a health care issue question. Well its all in the past for me, hopefully I still get in...somehow lol. I think my interview was an exception as most people indicate that the interview at GU is one of the most laid back and relaxed.

Never hurts so why not send one? I am waitlisted at one school so far, and I plan on sending a letter of interest/update letter sometime early next year.

They also have to sift through 10,000-11,000 applicants...most medical schools take at least a month, and they have twice the number of applicants to go through, so 6-8 weeks seems to be pretty reasonable.

I think most medical schools see a lot of waitlist movement after May 15th. Georgetown seems to place a special emphasis on update letters/ letters interest/ letters of intent. My interview was extremely laid back, and mostly consisted of standard questions. I interviewed with an M4. Almost all the interviewees in my group said that they had a similar experience. One interviewee had an interview with an MD that was pretty intense. He said that it was a series of medical ethics and healthcare questions that he didn't know how to answer, but I think he was also panicking because his phone went off twice. It seems like the overwhelming majority of interviews are conversational.

II today; was complete in late August/early September, so there is definitely hope for those who have been waiting a while. Very excited about this school!

II today! Complete since end of August. GU is my top choice, so feeling blessed.

Are they open interviews? Do they focus on your application?

Received my rejection today 🙁
Complete: Sep 7
Rejection: Dec 1

Are they open interviews? Do they focus on your application?

They are semi-open, meaning the interviewer doesn't have any of your grades or your MCAT but they have your essays and extra-curriculars. As for how much they focus on that, it depends on the interviewer. Mine asked questions based on my essay but I know other people who said their interviewer chose to not even read anything from their application before meeting them.

Thanks, I am trying to keep my hopes up. I sent an update and a letter of interest to the school, so maybe I will hear soon... I also had two letters from GU School of Medicine professors. I am wondering if those might have helped at all.

I would really like to go here :xf::xf::xf::xf:

For those who got interviews, did it say so anywhere on your application status page? Thanks

Only post-interview statuses have shown up on the status page (as far as what I've noticed throughout the forum, and from personal experience)

Ah the old familiar sting, rejected 2 years in a row pre interview, complete 10/5. Good luck to the rest of ya.

I'm interested in sending a post-interview update letter. What email address do I send it to? Or do I submit it on the application website under "Post-submission Updates"? Unfortunately, Ms. Sullivan was not there when I interviewed, so I wasn't told about updates or emailing her. Thanks in advance!

if the committee met last thursday how long will it take to hear decisions? two more weeks?
