I interviewed pretty late in the cycle in April. So I am not sure how to proceed for now. What about you? When did you interview?

Same story here. I interviewed on April 3. We have no choice except to wait and hope new seats become available.

i heard that at this point, they can pull people from either alternative or super alternative list. so its possible that people from super-alternative list won't make it.

I just withdrew from the super-alternate list. They sent out a e-mail asking if I was still interested. I am guessing that they did this for all the super alternates to clear up some seats.

I thought super alternates had priority over the alternates since technically the committee decided to accept them but the class was full.

Wait....I am on the super-alternate list and I didn't get any email.......should I be worried?

Maybe the person who got an email asking if he/she wanted to remain on super alternate list had other offers of admission which he/she accepted and that's why they received that email. Good luck!

I think they sent that email to all of the super alternates who were accepted at other schools because after the May 15th deadline, all schools can see where you've been accepted, waitlisted etc.

I don't think it's necessary to reply back to that email. At least mine didn't have any instructions to do so. It only mentioned about contacting them if you wanted to withdraw your application.

I don't think so. Like someone else mentioned in the post. I accepted an offer elsewhere so they might have just been seeing if I am definitely going to my other school or going to wait on Howard. I see that is a trend in other threads too.

It was good news. I got call from Ms. Jones yesterday saying that I was ACCEPTED!

She also said that the list was not ranked and they could take students from either the alternate or super-alternate group. She emphasized a lot on student's interest in coming to Howard University. For example--coming to the first Friday visit, and calling the office to check on your status and so on.

Good luck to everyone still waiting. I hope it will be good news for you as well

Sweetness, you can't let the enemy win now! You've been such an uplifting and encouraging spirit! As you once told me, if a career in medicine is truly your desire and you cannot see yourself doing anything else, STICK WITH IT! You know that I understand all too well the feeling of disappointment. I too have been dealing with a distraught spirit, but I have made up my mind that I'm in it to win it and I will continue to fight this battle until I hear those beautiful words YOU'RE ACCEPTED! So don't stay down for too long. I'm cheering for you and I know our SDN family is as well😀

Hey Guys,

I haven't been on here in a while but I just wanted to say congrats to all of the newly accepted students of HUCM c/o 2015!!!

Good luck and God bless to all of those that are still waiting. If you are on the alternate list or super alternate list do not give up hope. HUCM works on a roling admissions and student have been accepted all the way up the the final week. You just have to keep up the faith and leave it in God's hands at this moment.

If you were rejected during this cycle, I implore you to call the admissions department and see what changes that you can make over the course of the next 9 months and reapply at the end of this month (if the recommendations that they give you are feasible).

Sweetness34, you have been very passionate about HUCM over this entire cycle and a encouraging voice on SDN. I hope that you make it in next cycle at HUCM or any other medical school for that matter. because if you focus that same amount of enthusiasm into your patients then I know that you will be a great physician! Good Luck and God bless Sir. Make sure that you call Ms Walk to see what you could do to better your chances of being one of the 115 accepted into HUCM c/o 2017.

The school is predominantly black. Are you comfortable with that? Do you like the surrounding area? If you're interested in Peds, then ranking is probably minimally relevant. You just have to decide if you are applying there just for the sake of medical school or if you genuinely want to go there. Do some research. The last thing you want is an acceptance (only acceptance) at a school you wished you had never applied to in the first place.
