I'm so glad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And really Jelly. Not going to lie.

I hope you get in - its really hard to get an II here, but much easier (or so it seems) to get accepted. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!

33 seems to be the lucky MCAT score for an II!

I'm prayin' :xf:

I hope so :xf: I scored a 33, complete 7/25... this waiting is absolutely terrible. I want an II so so so badly. Good luck to everyone, an congrats to those with II's.

Interview! Complete on 8/24. >3.8 GPA and 32. I love NYU!

For others who submitted their app in September and waiting for a "complete" email, I submitted mine around 9/5 and got one today (9/23). Congrats to all the recent IIs!

Sup guys. I will see some of you on Oct 26. I just watched the interview video of NYU on their website and it made my day:laugh:

Looks like they're working through it one day at a time...

Complete 9/x, fingers crossed.

so how does this work.. if my application was complete 8/23 and people who completed their application in September are getting interview invites, is it over for me?
my stats seem to be higher than the average.

Does anyone know the best way to get from Drexel in Phili to NYU?

The average stats for people with interviews have been pretty similar but complete dates are all over the place, so I wonder if complete date doesn't mean much?

Chinatown bus!

Amtrak or BoltBus are also options (the former is probably the fastest option, but also tends to run a tad expensive). Chinatown buses are notorious for safety/maintenance issues....

Boltbus and Megabus leave from the 30th St station and in my opinion are a bit safer than the Chinatown buses (I base this on nothing 😀).

 The Chinatown buses are just fine. As long as you're using whatever safety awareness you normally use in urban areas / on the road, you'll be fine. It may not necessarily be more convenient/cheaper, though, depending on where you're coming from.

If you choose to take the Chinatown bus to NYC Chinatown, you can hop on the 15 bus (goes along Henry Street and heads north along Allen St/1st Ave), and it stops right in front of NYU SoM (Bellevue will be on your right, so you can't miss it).

Hey, could somebody please shed some light on what NYU's grading during non-clinical time is like? Thanks.

Haha, they're real...I might recommend bringing some mace with you if you're a girl though...

I am a girl and you seriously don't need mace

Like someone else said, use the same caution you would in an urban area and you'll be fine.

First Year here.
Idk if you've already seen this: http://school.med.nyu.edu/studentsf...tion/evaluation-assessment/student-assessment
but that's the official word.

Also, idk if you're looking for something beyond "we're pass/fail" (which we are). Are you wondering about internal rankings or something like that?

Sidenote: We're about to have our 3rd exam on Friday, which is awesome b/c we're about to have our 3rd free weekend. People really take advantage of these by going to visit friends/significant others in other cities, roll home, or party hard with fellow classmates. This structure of the first module is clutch IMO.

Congrats on the Invites!

Thanks for the reply! That's basically what I was looking for, though I am also curious about the rankings. Do they do internal ranking? (More importantly to me, do they report your internal ranking to residency programs when you apply? Because if not, I don't think it would matter to me). Sorry to pelt you with questions

Also it's great to hear about MS1's having some time to spend in the "real world." That's a big plus for me, like I'm sure it is for most everyone else.

Yah I didn't tell you only b/c I myself don't know. I only know that Weill is the one where they're pass/fail...but then put you into quartiles. I'll see if I can cross paths with a dean and report back. We haven't really started thinking about residency too hardcore yet (or maybe it's just me) but that's mostly a function of step 1 score + your evaluations from clinicals. Obviously it's more complicated than that. Not to keep dismissing your curiosity, but I've never heard of this factor playing into decision-making. Usually it's a matter of money, location, and rankings. Again, I only mean to convey how low stress this place is (take with a grain of salt because every med school will make you learn 1/2 a semester of undergrad biochem/genetics/cell bio in 2 weeks -- and that inevitably+understandably stresses people out.) /tangent

Any current students - what do you NOT like about this school?

I was complete 8/10 and I just got an II today! So I wouldn't be so quick to assume that it's over :luck:

I have a question about scheduling interviews. The email says "you may select from a two-week block period available online." I would like to choose a date later than the two-week block that shows up on my calendar. Am I restricted to the two-week block given on my calendar? Or will another two-week block period become available online once this one fills up?

From what I understand, you need to choose from the current two week. I hear you can call them and ask for different though

Yeah, that whole low-stress thing is actually exactly what I'm going for (well, however low-stress medical school can get, anyway). Thanks for the help

No major gripes. Perspective after 5 weeks here...
The website we use could be way more user friendly. And this kind of matters a lot because EVERYTHING is online. But yah, I had Blackboard in college and didn't think it was anything special, but the NYU one seems like they went out of their way to mess it up.

Me personally, I'll complain about the fact that all our required small group conferences are in the morning. I don't go to lectures (they're thrown up on iTunes 15 mins after they happen), so this is kind of annoying when you're trying to sleep in. They're also completely useless 1/2 the time.

Lastly, we usually have lunch 11a-12p. wtf?

I hear some of the 2nd years bitch about POM (Practice of medicine) that it's pretty much a waste of time. We just barely got underway with that and I think a post-clerkship student can better assess its true value. However, every school has such a course.

I don't understand why that is wrong or weird...especially if they expect to you get up early. Maybe it's just me but if I eat breakfast at 8, I'm usually hungry by 12.

Sorry. It was a dumb thing for me to say to begin with.
I usually eat right before class (9am) and am not hungry at 11am.
Clearly you should dis/like a school based on how well they sync with your eating habits.
My bad for attempting to be facetious.

I'm interviewing here in less than two weeks and I'm so nervous... it sucks how my top choice is my first interview. Any suggestions from current NYU med students?

Thanks!

Congrats Blazer! When were you complete??

I was just complete on 9/20 (though I submitted 8/25!!)... I guess it'll take a while before I hear back.

C'mon, everybody look at that cool centrigeugle guy's app that was complete september. Do it! INTERVIEW HIM DO IT :scared: plz
