Can anyone else give any insight on how their interview went and what they asked? This is my top choice and I really want to be prepared! Thanks

Mine was about half an hour long, located just outside the admissions office lounge where we were all waiting. They opened with the typical "tell me about yourself," then went on to ask me about some of my specific activities. Then we talked about my research for awhile, which happened to be a topic the interviewer had done similar work in. They mentioned specific faculty members at NYU that I might be interested in based on my past experiences. At about 15-20 minutes, they asked me for questions and I filled up the rest of the time asking about the area, clerkships (how prepared are students?), my interviewer's own experiences at NYU and in general, student life, curriculum changes, etc.

Hope this helps!

Everything Virelangue said!

It was my easiest interview. They are like clockwork: 30min exactly per interview. Everyone I spoke to on that day said their interviews were extremely low-stress. I didn't have any "weird" questions, no ethical questions, and my interviewer was very easy to talk to. I thought it was my "easiest" interview out of the 3 that I've been on.

i interviewed at nyu early this month and it was my hardest interview yet!

after reading SDN, i was expecting a relaxed, conversational interview, but i was totally grilled and not with typical questions, but behavioral and situational ones (not application based) and I was asked some ethical questions as well. has anyone else had an interview like this here? it was extremely nerve-wracking and i'm confused because everyone else seemed to have chill interviews. i think i did okay, but who knows! oh well, we'll see what happens :/

do you know if it's inappropriate to email/call to ask about who my interviewer will be?

Yes, and they don't even tell you the day of until you get called into a room.

Well I really hope I don't get rhino's interviewer, especially after everyone else claims how relaxed their interviews were.

My interview wasn't like this, but it was horrible in its own way. It was by far my worst interview, I left wanting to cry because I liked NYU so much and it felt so unfair that this was my only interviewer.

does anyone know if nyu accepts pre-interview updates? i searched the thread and couldn't seem to find an answer. how do they prefer these updates?

For those of you who got accepted, do you think there's a specific reason they are releasing them early or are you just as clueless as I am?

Don't NYU undergrads have an ED option? Or do those decisions get released earlier? My status still says decision pending 🙁

Mine still says Interview Decision Pending. I interviewed first week of November though...

accepted
interviewed mid-october as well

I talked to a fellow interviewee at a different school and she said that when schools say "non-rolling admissions" and "no accpetances until BLANK date" they are just giving us a bunch of BS. Apparently in the case of NYU she was right.

Well the website says, "The first round of acceptance letters sent" on Dec. 15. So, maybe they mean actually physical letters are sent out. Or perhaps they send those earlier than Dec. 15 also and the whole Dec. 15 thing is obsolete.

Accepted as well! Interviewed late October.

AGREED!

I've been complete since mid-July and sent an interest/update letter and I don't know what else to do...I feel like hope is lost but I am hoping it isn't!

who did you email the letter to???:scared:

by email or phone call?

i got an email saying "acceptance letter has been sent to your address" and then a call from the dean or associate dean (to be honest, i don't remember because i was so excited, so i didn't hear properly when he introduced himself)

and i'm actually confused to as why acceptances were sent out earlier than dec.15th. i was actually counting down to dec 15th!! so this was a pleasant surprise 🙂

best of luck to everyone else!!!!

Congrats to everyone who has gotten accepted!!! Woooo!

I also interviewed in mid/late october, but this is a "reach" ish school for me so I'm not susrpised I haven't heard yet. Arghasgdh. So nervous 😛

However judging from last year's thread, it was only a few people who were notified before dec15... a lot of people WERE notified dec 15 or thereabouts...

congratz to all those accepted! It seems they are starting to sway towards rolling admissions. I really reallyyyy hope this means those of us that interviewed in later november will be reviewed by Dec. 15th! TOP CHOICE PLEASE LOVE ME!!! 😍

Congrats to recent acceptances! I'm hoping for news soon too -- I had the best interview experience here!

How long does the interview day last? I need to buy a ticket for a bus to Philly right after my day at NYU.

EDIT: Never mind I totally didn't look at the interview confirmation page. For others, your day at NYU ends at 2 PM if you have morning interviews and 4 PM if you have afternoon interviews.

If you have an afternoon interview, your day might end earlier than 4pm. Ie: if you have a 2:00pm interview, your day ends when hyour interview ends (ie: 2:30).

I LOVE YOUR ICON! 🙂

Does anyone know the address of the admissions office? I called to get it, but seemed to have misplaced the paper I wrote it down on -____-

I want to be one of the Last of the Mohicans too.

Complete 11/23, GPA 3.63 (sGPA 3.77), MCAT 34R, non-trad. Maybe there's hope for me?

Has anyone that's interviewed so far applied for a dual degree program (i.e. MD/MPH)? If so, is the interview any different?

So I just interviewed today. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

I was extremely impressed with the student body, admissions, the facilities, everything. I'm pretty sure this is the place I want to go.

Does anyone have any idea about when I'd find out? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck to everyone!

I believe late November/December interviews find out in March

See, they told me it's rolling admissions. Most of the students I spoke to told me they found out within a month. But a few posts on here led me to believe otherwise. I guess I just have to wait and see!

From what I've gathered it looks like its semi-rolling

II this morning. Complete 11/21. scheduled for mid-Jan. I'm so excited 😍:soexcited:
I almost didn't complete the secondary because of the rumours that NYU doesn't send ii to people complete after oct 1. Glad I didnt listen to that. For those still waiting, there are still a couple of spots left (morning and afternoon), for the last 2 weeks in January. Good luck

Hey everyone! I'm interviewing at NYU on 12/13, and I'm staying with a student host the night before. For anyone who also did this, how was your experience?

So I'm almost done with my first semester in a one-year MPH program. I'm thinking of sending 2 LORs post-interview, pre-decision. Thoughts or personal experiences? How would I go about doing this?
