Did anyone try calling to find out if they're finished accepting? Would that be considered acceptable to do at this point, or should one wait until tomorrow?
I think it would be acceptable and was actually going to do it before I got the call. Just ask for an application update.

My friend called them yesterday and was given the standard response that acceptances will be given out on a rolling basis starting yesterday...
If you miss the call do they leave a voicemail? I'm going to be away from my phone for most of today
Yes, the dean leaves a voicemail asking you to call him back.
Did the number of acceptances yesterday really seem more sparse compared to Dec 15th 2010?
Hopefully, and the "December 15th-vast majority of acceptances" myth is untrue since that is good news for all of us that recently interviewed.
NYU's twitter says the same thing that the admissions people are saying over the phone: "Acceptances have started going out and will continue going out on a rolling basis."
I know its impossible for any of us to know for sure, but anyone have any ideas as to what they mean by this? Perhaps they are changing their system to let later applicants have a better chance? Or maybe they are randomly letting people know about their status for those who already interviewed?

I would guess this. Since we had so few posters get accepted on SDN, I think that they will come again with phone calls.
I take this as REALLY GOOD news. Just the words, "rolling basis" have not been used by NYU in recent years from what I know... I don't think Dec 15th was the "make or break" date for early interviewers. Also note that NYU has a brand new dean of admissions, so they may try new things this year. Keep your hopes up people!

Accepted!!
I never received a call. My status was never updated. My parents received my acceptance letter in the mail today (halfway across the country), and they told me I got in. I then called the admissions office and they confirmed it and updated my status page so I could submit my deposit.
So...check your mailboxes if you haven't received a call.

Congrats! When did you interview?

It was sent to my permanent address instead of my current contact address. I interviewed 11/15. Also idk what link you all use to check your status but apparently there is one I did not know about. Here it is
https://tools.med.nyu.edu/AdmissionsMatriculationDeposit
It'll tell you what your status and if accepted it is where you submit your online deposit.

For anyone wondering, I tried that link and it says my status is the same as the other status page: "Final Decision Pending". Thanks for the info kman!

Exact same situation here 🙂 I got the letter in the mail today but no phone call or status change online.
Interviewed the 2nd week of November
when did you interview?
11/21!
11/21!
Hmmm... looks like I have some waiting to do before they get to any of us that interviewed in early December.

This is so confusing.
I wish they'd just email everyone accepted, waitlisted, or rejected and update the status.
Maybe you're accepted and the snail mail was lost? Maybe you're accepted and your phone doesn't save the call? You'd never know.

I am at work and saw the voicemail, and I called back to find out that I got in! This is truly a dream come true for me, and like said above, its hard to form complete sentences when I talk right now. I interviewed on 10/20. Good luck to everyone!
accepted! Interviewed 10/11...didn't receive a call or e-mail but got the letter today!

ACCEPTED!!!
3.99/33, Interviewed mid-october
I was in an exam today and I heard my phone vibrate-- I was SO excited to see who the call was from (NYUNYUNYU?) but as it turned out, it was my mom. In fact, after reading this thread, I was starting to get really bummed out with no status update and no email, but when I called my house back, my dad mentioned off hand that he had a letter from NYU-Langone. Turns out they sent the good news by mail 🙂
Congrats to all the other acceptees!

I'm from California and received it today. Don't know about the permanent vs preferred, since my preferred address is my permanent one.
congrats to all!😍
From the email:
"CONGRATULATIONS!!
A letter of acceptance to the NYU School of Medicine has been mailed to your permanent address today.
Cordially,
Rafael Rivera, M.D.
Associate Dean"
so permanent address
ugh, i can't submit the deposit online and i have yet to receive the email...i should probably call tomorrow.
Congrats to all those accepted!
And hang in there to all those waiting! My heart breaks remembering how awful this process was last year.
I know it's still early (a ton of our class comes from the WL) -- but some of the 1st Years made a fb group for the Class of 2016
Good luck everyone!

I finally got the email after getting the letter yesterday!

Hi! I have a question about off-campus housing. For those NYU med students who live off campus, what are the most common commutes? Options for under-30-min commutes I've seen via Google Maps:
- L train from Williamsburg/Greenpoint
- 4/5 to 6 train from Brooklyn Heights
- 6 train from UES
- M15 from East Village/LES
So these all seem doable, but how easy is it in practice to commute from these neighborhoods, particularly once the clinical year starts and you have to be at the hospital by 5am? Thanks in advance!

the wait is brutal!
+1 especially to those of us who interviewed in October...
