Is it still possible to get an interview here or has that ship sailed ...?

I was complete in August and was wondering if I should send a letter of interest / updates.

What do you have to lose?

🙁 what makes you say that?

They stop interviewing at the end of January and there was a guy who posted at the beginning of December, saying that he was schedule for mid January. I'm guessing that they're all been sent out by now.

Guess you're talking about me. Yeah, when I signed up for the interview, I had a mid-January date available, and then a few days in the final week of January. It's reasonable to assume that I was in the final batch of interview invites, but who knows, really. Maybe they're saving a couple of days for later?

I called admissions yesterday morning and was informed that there are still interview invites left

got an interview invite yesterday for late jan

When were you complete?

Also, if anyone else has sent updates, where did you send them? I called but I'm on the other coast and they must have closed before I had a chance ...

Also trying to send in an update....where did everyone send their updates??

Office of Admissions
550 First Avenue, MSB G-106
New York, NY 10016

Edit: When I was talking to them on the phone a while back, the person told me that they prefer incoming documents to be submitted electronically. In that case, [email protected]. I sent it snail mail so either way it will get added to your file.

Does anyone know if interview invite is given out at NYU after they read your LOR's?

anyone know how the deposit refund works if we decide not to attend?

I remember my tour guides saying that housing was subsidized for medical students and I vaguely remember them saying that it's about $800/month...can anyone confirm this? Thank you!

My student host said his rent was about ~$900 for the place right across Langone

Anyone know if rejections/waitlists (post interview) have also gone out? So far all it seems like we've had posted on this thread are acceptances. Obviously it's more likely that people will post acceptances rather than rejections, but if anyone knows if rejections have also gone out, I would appreciate it.

People rarely post rejections, but a lot post waitlists...and none were seen here. I'm guessing that only acceptances went out and that other decisions (possibly more acceptances) will come again in March.

Last I checked, rent for Vilcek (26th st) and Greenberg (across from NYULMC) is $880/month, but Greenbergers have to pay utilities on top of that, whereas Vilcek doesn't.

After the first wave of acceptances, has anyone heard any other news? I interviewed on the first date and my status page still says "final decision pending" and I've gotten zilch in the mail 🙁

Mine says that too after an early interview, but I'm pretty sure they switched to a rolling system for acceptances this year 🙂. Keep your head up, you're more likely to hear back before march this year than last!

Officially withdrew today - post interview. Good luck to everyone who attends this amazing school! 🙂

Any recent news for folks interviewed late Nov or later after the first wave of acceptance in Dec?

Anyone know if interview invites are still going out? My status still says "Application complete-under review"....

None that I know of, however, on the 2009-2010 NYU thread there was a wave of acceptances right at the beginning of February for some December and early January interviews. Who knows what this cycle will bring though.

I received an email about an hour after the phone call. It basically says to expect a hard copy letter in the mail and to pay your $100 deposit.

I would assume that they plan on accepting a lot more people soon. NYU accepts 400~ total so the fact that there are so few acceptances on here means that a lot more are coming. :luck: to everyone!

Where did you get this information from? Just curious.

Quick question: I'm interviewing soon at NYU, and was just looking at the curriculum. NYU seems to do things differently than most schools, and I'm not sure if I'm just confused by the way they described their curriculum or if it really is quite different, and I was hoping someone here knew. On the website, it seems like NYU students finish their academic studies halfway through their 2nd year, and start clerkships in their second year. They then take Step 1 AFTER all their clerkships. To my knowledge, it seems like most schools have their students take Step 1 before they start clerkships and they don't start clerkships until their second year. Am I completely wrong, or does NYU do things differently? Thank you!

NYU does have an 18-month condensed pre-clinical course. You'll start your clerkships halfway through MII and then take Step I halfway through MIII (I believe they give students a pretty wide window in which to take it). The majority of schools have two full years of pre-clinical coursework, and have students take Step I around May after their second year. There are a handful of schools in the nation that have a similar curriculum to NYU. The theory is that students will perform better on Step I if they have a few clerkships under their belt, because they'll have more experience with case-based diagnoses.

my NYU interview invite seems to be less likely to arrive 🙁 wahh

They accepted 419 last year. From US News.

btw, I withdrew my acceptance here. hope it goes to you of you guys!!

Yeah, I was reading thru the 2010-2011 thread last night and didn't see anyone posting an acceptance until after March. My status has been Final Decision Pending since before Dec 15th....

My interview at NYU is coming up..... and I have a question for those who have already interviewed; Did you get asked WHY NYU?
I checked the interview feedback, and I noticed that WHY NYU was asked a few times but I think the secondary prompt changed.

Thanks in advance

yes. definitely know why nyu!

I would also definitely come up with questions that you want answered...I think one of the reasons why I got in was because I really researched the school and had a bunch of specific questions lined up to ask my interviewer. Good luck!

Interview invite this morning. When I logged in there were still 4 days of interviews open at the end of Jan.

Note: I was complete at NYU on July 19th...

Thanks for the tip. Definitely will do lots of research.

Congrats.

Congrats! Good to know they're still going out...

Yeah. I wake up every day and check my mail and hope there's an II in there. Since I'm in state, a NYU interview invite would be amazing right about now.

I will be interviewing in NYC in a couple of weeks and given the distance (from Arkansas) I was hoping to consolidate my interviews. Does anyone know how NYU responds to In The Area letters/emails?

I have decent stats (39/4.0) so I think I have at least some chance of being granted an interview

hey has anyone gotten any acceptances after the new year?

Just got an II this morning, there were 5 days left open to scheduling when I looked

So for the people who interview after January, when is the decision made? I've heard it's semi-rolling, so I guess we'd have to wait until March to find out about the result?
