Wow, I never knew you could subscribe to a thread, haha. When you are logged in, at the top of the thread (right above the first post), it says "Thread tools" and you can subscribe there.

The future is here!

is anyone struggling to create a user name and log in. Whenever I try to create one it goes to a page that says online supplemental for 2012 closed. They will be available, Saturday December 30, 1899?!?!

I don't know that anyone officially has the secondary at the moment (plz 2 correct if wrong?). Just click on the link and "see a sample application" or whatever it's called.

The questions are more of less the same as last year I believe, except they've taken out the somewhat confusing "from an outsiders perspective" wording from the one question discussed previously in this thread.

The supplementary is actually up. You have to go to the website and click "login" and it takes you to the actual app. If you go to "website home" you have to click "login" again.

haha wow. times are a-changin.

Incoming M1 here, feel free to shoot me a PM with any questions.

Would any currently enrolled students at Rush care to comment on what they do and do not like about the school? Thanks in advance.

I haven't even received an acknowledgement email from Rush. I was verified June 8. Has anyone received correspondence?

I haven't received any correspondence, but I don't believe you need to in order to complete and submit the secondary. I submitted mine earlier today.

"The Rush Supplemental Application in now available. If you have an AMCAS ID, you are welcome to complete the Rush Supplemental Application; you do not need an individual invitation.".

can everyone stop submitting please!! I really want to go here and I'm still not verified!?! Haha good luck to all:/

No correspondence but I was able to fill the supplementary application. The site is pretty straightforward.

Not sure how I feel about this. No notification email? I can't imagine how I would know about this if it wasn't for SDN 😕

Still havent got an secondary....should I contact them?

from their secondary website:

The Rush Supplemental Application Website
is currently undergoing Routine Maintenance and is Offline.

Normal Nightly Offline Hours: 01:00 AM to 07:00 AM Central Standard Time.

Is this EVERY NIGHT?!
Cuz that is 3PM to 9 PM my time. ugh.

Do you think I can put my experience as a tutor as a leadership experience? Thanks

Do you think I can put my experience as a tutor as a leadership experience? Thanks

Only if you actually supervised a group of other tutors or made significant changes to your school's tutoring system. Otherwise, tutoring is pretty much cut and dry teaching.

Does this qualify as leadership?

If I am one of a handful of lab associates who supervises the diagnostic work (i.e. venipunture, on-site diagnostic tests) performed by other volunteers. I also ensure that all diagnostic lab work meets the requirements provided by Quest Diagnostics before they are sent out. In other words, I can run the diagnostic lab without supervision, whereas other volunteers cannot.

sounds like it to me....it's always better to spin something into leadership than leave it blank imo

wow that's seriously not cool Rush.....
how will people even know the secondary is just on their website?
Thanks guys for letting us know greatly appreciated.

I know this questions shows up on a lot of threads, but having a hard time finding a concrete answer - how do you all feel about putting experiences from high school?

Does anyone know if we will receive an invite if we dont just go online and fill it out? I find it easier to keep track of secondaries by when I receive the email to fill it out.

See below.

Their website says it pretty explicitly: http://www.rushu.rush.edu/servlet/S...shUnivLevel2Page/Level_2_College_GME_CME_Page

Aside from that, I'm pretty sure the MSAR makes mention of the secondary website, though I can't confirm that as I've long since disposed of it.

That having been said, I went back through my email and I did receive an email invitation to complete their secondary, right around the time I was verified (July 19). I don't know if it makes a difference that that was after they opened their secondary website for access or not.

Last cycle I submitted my AMCAS application on pretty much the very first day we were allowed to submit, so around June 4th give or take a couple days. I was verified on the 30th and got an e-mail from Rush about their supplemental on 7/6. That's what happened last cycle, it seems they have yet to send out an e-mail but it should be coming.

Done and done 🙂. I had between 997-1000 characters for at least four of those questions. Not very much room to work with.

1000 characters is just not enough, especially for non-trads...

I submitted the secondary today.

I was like 100-150 characters under the limit. I was very brief and succinct... there was just no point in rambling for my situation.

Anyone know how strict they are with the 2x2 photo requirement? I was just going to submit a grad photo, the wallet size one. Think they will care?

Yeah, these questions are only hard because of the character limit. I tend to be a wordier writer, so it's really tough for me to answer with a "me want 2b doctor I work hrd 4 long tym" type answer just to fit the limit.

Your avatar should be good enough. 🙂

Submitted! A Chicago native, I'm really hoping for an interview! :xf::xf::xf:

Still waiting for all of my other materials to be received by Rush, though.

Do you think it would be appropriate to copy and paste from AMCAS, especially for the redundant questions?? Or do you think that will be looked down upon?

You should consider this as an opportunity to refine and expand on anything you've talked about in your primary. Don't simply copy and paste. If they notice, it looks like laziness on your part. This goes for any secondary, not just Rush's.

How is it considered laziness if I use my own original work to answer a question that was posed to me twice?

All any of us can do is offer our opinions, which you can choose to disregard. You are, of course, free to copy and paste your answers if you would like.

Because it doesn't show whether you took the time to consider if you could expound or refine your answer. Perhaps more obvious will be the duplicate text in your application, which is not a good use of the limited space you are afforded. There were no questions on secondaries that I didn't approach as if I were being asked it for the first time, relative to my primary app.

Now, if you want to copy/paste between secondaries, be my guest.

I'm still writing refining my essay, does anyone know the cost? I've yet to see it.

I e-mailed Rush asking about copy and pasting our answers from the AMCAS and here is their response:

Thank you for your interest in Rush Medical College. Feel free to repeat your previous answers. We need to ask these questions in our application so that our internal database can "read" and sort through the information you enter.

Sincerely,

I wonder what words the computer searches for...

What the hell? lol. So a human being doesn't read out app initially? I'm screwed!
