does anyone else think they send out the more personalized ones to the ones they're more serious about? we should ask someone like mauberley or someone who's applied to rush before, i guess.

I am deeply enjoying the amount of paranoia and wild speculation in this thread.

How about this hypothesis: Jill got half the stack to email and Susan and Cynthia got the other half?

More personalized = more serious makes sense. We just need to figure out how they determined more serious. So far, I know it doesn't have to do with GPA or registration status w/ Rush website.

No. It's a computerized system.

Well, considering Rush does not begin app reviews until September, I would venture to say yall are overanalyzing the **** out of these emails.

From the Rush website:

Files are screened for interviews periodically between September and February. It is to your advantage to apply as early as possible.

The entire pool is considered during each pass. Once your application becomes eligible for screening, you may have multiple opportunities to be selected for an interview. If selected, you will be notified via e-mail and asked to select an interview date.

Maybe I'm going to take a gander over to Rush and give them all my documents. Do you think they'll be okay with that? It seems nonsensical for me to mail these documents to a place less than 2 miles away.

You might want to get used to it... it's not like paranoia and overanalyzing are going to decrease at all as the cycle goes on.

Last year, I got this form of the email.

Dear Rush Medical College Applicant,

Thank you for submitting your AMCAS application to Rush Medical College! We are excited you are considering Rush as a place to pursue your medical education and are anxious for you to learn more about the opportunities at Rush.

...

Even if there's some rhyme or reason as to which form of the email you receive, would you change anything in your approach if you knew what it was?

Relax, everyone. Don't psych yourselves out. 🙂

Listen to this man... he spits the truuuuff (truth).

I received both emails yesterday afternoon within 3 minutes of each other. So if for some reason one of them is better than the other, I have my bases covered . I just created my account 2 days ago and have not submitted yet fyi.

That just means you're double-special!

Maub's, did rush offer reasonable financial aid packages to those with average/slightly above average stats?

I'm wondering if I can't afford rush : (

No, he really meant he was going to bring a gander over to the admissions office for added intimidation. Who wouldn't accept important documents with a male goose quackin' atcha?

exactly.

Define "reasonable." 🙂 The vast majority of my aid package consists of federal loans. I can't speak for anyone else, though.

submitted online. now pain in the butt to mail in signature page and photo from overseas...:annoyed:

This app kills me. Like why cant they read the AMCAS, I spent so long on it and this secondary literally asks questions that I've already answered lol.. Whats the point of participating and paying money for AMCAS if youre just going to ask the same questions were expected to talk about in the PS.. uhhh all for the money....

Ack..Rush and their unreasonable US citizenship verification. Couldn't a driver's license and social security card do the trick? Would it be too late to submit the secondary if I apply for a passport now?

Go get a copy of your birth certificate, it's much faster than applying for a passport. You can get a copy in about a week.

I've sent in all the signature forms last week but still no change in status page. Guess they'll be taking another few weeks to get this verified and another few weeks to start reading secondaries. Looks like a long and late cycle for Rush

yeah..I wasn't born here. I think I have my passport when I was 5 though. I guess I have to wait for their reply on this.

Finally received an email for complete application.

"Thank you for submitting your application to Rush Medical College! Our records indicate that we have received all the required documents for your file to be complete.

Rush Medical College operates a rolling admission, which means the Committee on Admissions will review file-complete applications from August through February to determine eligibility for an on-campus interview. Interviews will be conducted during our recruitment season, which runs from September through March. Even though you may not hear from us for a period of time, rest assured we are continuing to review your application for a potential interview. If selected, you will be notified via email with specific information regarding the interview day."

Took them a while to get the signature pages complete, but here we go!!!:xf::luck:

I received the second letter today and I am registered on the site...currently working on the app now. Any idea if it's regarding IS vs OOS? Weird....

yeah i finally got the more personalized email..about a week after i got the less personalized version. havent opened my account yet. weird.

So we can start our secondary app without an invitation, how was I supposed to know about this, if I hadn't been going through all these threads?

Should I go ahead and do it? Does Rush end up screening people before they send out an official invitation? I don't want to do all the work and then end up getting rejected outright.

Yes, go ahead and apply! They do not screen before they send out official invitations. Those invitations are seemingly random, almost as if they are having technical difficulties.

No, anyone is free to fill out a secondary. The secondary became available on 7/6 but Rush sent out a mass e-mail to in mid-July which notified that the secondary was available on-line. Fill out the secondary and send in the requisite documentation via snail mail.

^^ Thanks! I checked my MSAR book (2010-2011) and Rush does indeed send out its secondary to "all applicants".

On another note, I wonder if I should have bought the new MSAR... Does anyone know if there's much of an update?

Yeah, I got the more personalized e-mail this morning ( they work on Saturdays 😕 ). It's been a week since I received the first e-mail and I already submitted and mailed all the secondary stuff, still no complete e-mail though.

Hmm, status page says that they received my signature page and payment earlier this week but my bank account doesn't show the check being processed 😕 Maybe they forgot to process it and still entered that I did pay in the system

Same. Are you complete? Have they downloaded your letters yet?

Ya, got everything done. LOR downloaded 7/26, secondary submitted 7/19, signature and payment received. So I guess I gotta wait until late September before hearing from them 🙁 Last year they sent out first invites on 9/25. Looks like Rush and USC Keck are the slowest schools in this regard

did everyone attach a legit passport sized photo on their sig page.. i mean you went out to walgreens or whatev and had them take a passport sized pic of you? can I just print out a picture of me, cut it to 2"x2" and tape it on?

I took a photo I had, edited online at some passport photo editor website (can't remember the name), then sent photos to walgreens. I printed a sheet of photos for $0.19.

I just cropped a photo I had to 2x2 and printed it at home on photo paper.
