One of my secondary questions is "Have you ever struggled with being honest and compassionate at the same time? Describe the situation, the struggles and, if there was one, the resolution."

I am wondering if I could use a time when I had to break ties with a family member who was a drug user? or is that not ok???

Are the secondary essays supposed to be less than a page long? (in general...)
 
OMG OMG OMG I just submitted my AACOMAS....ahhhh my heart skipped a beat as I read processing...

3-6 weeks, the wait for SECONDARIES HAS BEGUN!!!

CAN ANYONE FEEL MY EXCITEMENT?!!! 🙂
 
Starting these essays is killing me. Writing good essays is my weakness. 🙁
 
did DO schools already send out secondaries? I thought they weren't going to until July 1st?

What school is that the question for? Be honest, clear, and use examples to support your answer.

Haha, just thought I'd point this out, and to use my comical effort as a way of introducing myself!...I submitted 6/8 and was verified 6/15, but have not yet received any secondaries. I'm from Nebraska, and I applied to the following schools:

AT Still, AZ
AT Still, MO
Arizona of Midwestern, AZ
Chicago of Midwestern, IL
Des Moines, IA
Kansas City, MO
Lincoln Memorial, TN
New York of NYIT, NY
U. of New England, ME

G'luck to everyone!
 
thank you now I can breathe haha!! Is your MCAT above 24 and GPA above 3.0 sci/cum, because many schools use those minimum screening reqs?

And I was telling SBB2016 to be honest and specific, but thanks for answering my other question!

No problem, and yes my stats are higher than that. Did you apply to some of the same schools?

Still no secondaries =( ... I'm offically not happy but anyway does anyone know around what time of year most DO schools begin their interviews?
 
Some schools such as Michigan start as early as August, but most start late September and October the latest and go on until March-April 2012....

Can we please fast forward to May 15, 2012?

I thought that AACOMAS sent out the first batch of primary applications yesterday (the 21st)...

That has been confirmed. However, I'd give the schools a few days to send the secondaries out lol. From what I've read of last year's thread, some take 2 weeks from receiving primaries. We can chillax for now ;-)
 
sorry if this is a dumb question but do the schools send emails to you for secondaries or does it come through aacomas?
 
So I just learned that I have to submit my MCAT scores manually through THX and thought AACOMAS would only verify my application after receiving the official scores. However, my application was just verified and my scores aren't in their system yet. Will my application not be sent to schools until the scores are received?

Also, where can I see my official, verified GPAs? It doesn't appear under the "colleges & coursework" section.
 
when did you submit? i submitted last week (6/16) and was wondering where I stand.

also to answer your question, verification is independent on whether your scores have been loaded. schools will see your application and you'll be able to get secondaries, but your app will not be complete until they have received your scores. I have no idea about the verified gpa, sorry!

I believe you can only view your verified GPA when your application is 'RELEASED' to all of the schools. You have to actually receive an e-mail about being 'released', and then click on the 'view' link next to each school to see the summary of your application to that school (in the form of a PDF), which is where you'll find your GPA info. I had no idea about this initially either...but now I know because my applications just got 'RELEASED' today!

It's kind of weird how this process works because it's like a never ending process just for the application to get sent to the schools...first the application has to be 'processed', then some time later 'verified', then some time later 'released'...I wonder if now I have to get confirmation of it being 'received', and then 'opened', and then 'viewed', and then....etc. etc.

Haha, I'm just being sarcastic, but I sure am glad to finally be released! 😀
 
When the schools ask you for ECs again, do you copy it from the main application or do you rewrite the experiences?
 
what schools require a CV to be attached to the secondary? I think CCOM does and who else?

I copied it and trimmed it to fit the character limit. I polished it enough for AMCAS/AACOMAS/TMDSAS, I don't know what other special/new spin I would put for a secondary.
 
I just received the secondary app for LECOM-E and B. I don't know if i'm not looking correctly but are there essays that I need to write for these or is it just demographical/personal info?
 
Hey Guys, so AACOMAS received my final transcript on 6/23 and I was wondering how long it usually takes to verify. I know it is 3-6 weeks, but is it really? Cuz it seems like everyone's application is getting verified fast. Also, I submitted and made payments to AACOMAS on 6/15 so I was wondering since they received my final transcript after on the 23 how long it should take roughly.

I got one for LECOM-E, and there was no essay required. Just demo/personal info and $50 to pay. 🙂
 
how long does processing take, mine was submitted last Tuesday, all my transcripts are in??! im so confused why it's taking sooo long all of a sudden when I thought I was relatively early...my counselor said most people submit in July-August?

I submitted (and was complete) almost 3 weeks ago. Still processing 🙄
 
Still waiting impatiently...

I did receive some secondaries for MD schools, but I really want to get a leg up on my DO secondaries. I think I would rather attend a DO school over MD, so maybe working on the MD essays will allow me to write better DO essays!!? 🙄
 
same I want to be a DO...I like the philosophy better but MD schools sent out a LOT of secondaries to people in early June while DO schools JUST started because they JUST started receiving the primary from AACOMAS...

I'M STILL WAITING AND very impatient haha!
 
I think CCOM might not waive the secondary app fee either because their website now describes the app fee as nonrefundable and nonwaiveable...
 
anyone get secondaries to the Touros, PCOM, Michigan State, or Ohio Univ?
 
It says 3-6 weeks processing and apparently everyone submitted late June so now I'm freaking out as I'm not verified, have gotten 0 secondaries, and it says processing...

All my transcripts and forms are turned in, and letters we send to each DO school that we get a secondary from?? Because it's different from AMCAS and slightly confusing.
