Got rejection letter today. This school was a long shot for me.

Here are my stats for those who are curious.

IS, 3.88GPA post bac, 3.2 cum, URM, 31Q (11VS 11PS 09BS)
Submitted 2nd: 9/6/11
Complete 2nd: 9/7/11
Date on rejection letter: 10/5/11
Received letter: 10/13/11

Good luck to all the other ones out there still waiting.

I'm still confused, so the rejection letters pre-interview come via snail mail?

Rejection came in the mail today.

Complete in July sometime. Starting to get worried :scared:. Good luck to you all still in the running.

Also rejected. Complete 7/11. Good luck to everyone, congrats to those interviewing!

Rejected. Dated 10/5, didn't read it until this morning, but it probably got here yesterday. Good luck to the rest of you still in the running! :luck:

Rejected; had a lovely undergrad rejection letter from them too. Good luck to those left standing!

Rejected too. Looks like no love from the West Coast for me...

and received the rejection letter today, post marked October 5th. I feel this would have hurt more had I not been accepted somewhere else last night. Oh wells, moving on.

rejected 🙁 This was my top choice. *sigh* good luck everyone else!

so the people who have received the rejection mail, is this after being interviewed or pre-interview?
Pretty sure it's pre-interview. I don't think they'll be doing post-interview decisions until November. Good luck!

39Q, 3.9

Got the rejection letter today. Good luck to the rest of yall getting interviews 👍

rejected~~

dude, this school rejected me twice, once applying for undergraduate and once for med school.

absolute enemy!!!

nothing in my mailbox... but I have been complete for sometime.🙁

To Hous3MD, with that envious MCAT and beautiful gpa, I'm sure it is a loss to stanford. You will definitely end up at a great school in the end.

So, it seems a lot of rejections are going out but not as many interviews? Haven't really heard much about interview invites since that first bunch? Any news?

...I'm not one to say much though...haven't checked my mail in a while in case there is a rejection letter there!...whoever said ignorance is bliss was soooo right!

Been Complete since August 2nd. No news. I am hoping they wouldn't string me along for this long just to get sent a rejection now... 🙁 Fingers crossed we'll all hear good news soon.

Seems like a lot of people with great stats are getting rejected before interviews. Is Stanford really heavy on significant ECs or something? Looks like they won't be interviewing all that many people from this sample pool.

Must cost a lot of moolah + trees to send all these rejections via snail mail...

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone who has attended the Stanford Interview or any other MMI type interview could provide a description of how it works and whats sorts of questions they ask. Also how did you prepare for it? THanks.

i just interviewed today, and loved Stanford! you should check out the "About MMI" section on the interview website which gives you more detailed information about the actual procedures. i also read this to get a better idea of how it would work: http://med.stanford.edu/ism/2011/january/interview-0110.html. it's hard to prepare for the actual questions..i did do some reading on cases in medical ethics, but i'm not sure it's really necessary.

I haven't gotten an II at Stanford yet but I interviewed at UC Davis which had the MMI format. Generally they give you a "scenario" and you're suppose to respond to it. Unfortunately, can't disclose specific questions as I've signed a confidentiality agreement. You really can't prepare for it too much. Just be yourself :] (It's actually the most important thing)

Thanks for your response. Just wondering if you found this interview setting easier or more comfortable than the 2 or 3 one on one interviews that most schools have? Good luck!

I've been complete for a while, but I did not receive a rejection in the last wave. Is this a good or bad sign for getting an invite?

As far as I know, no one has ever received an invite after a rejection. The dream lives on.

I actually really liked the MMI. It was easier to show rather than tell them about myself, I guess. Plus if you mess up in one station, you get to start over instead of having the interviewer have a bad impression of you! :]
Overall, it was really fun and time passed by EXTREMELY quickly.

MSTP II a few minutes ago! Complete 9/20, SO EXCITED. Dream school for sure.

Any current students:

Do you all know when the interview dates are?....or how the interview cycle is going thus far?....I've been complete at Stanford for a while without any news at all...

All I can do is :xf: and pray... lol...just wondering if there was any insider information as to how this asmissions cycle was progressing?

:luck: to everyone else in the same boat as me!

roughly a third (four or five) of the interview dates have already passed. the dates continue through march.

It says on their website that they only start inviting applicants for interviews in November.

I just got an II today, was complete on 11/9/11

Congrats on your II!

(From their website)
Interviews

All applications will be reviewed for consideration of an interview. The earliest notifications regarding an interview invitation will be sent in August and continue through the end of February. The Office of Medical School Admissions will inform each candidate whether or not an interview will be granted.

Each candidate invited to interview will be notified by e-mail and may use our online scheduling system to select a date that is mutually agreeable. Interviews will be held between October and March.

Thanks...and that's interesting, completely conflicting dates on the same exact website! I got the dates from the very bottom of the page I linked. Looking back at this thread, it looks like there are definitely others that have already been invited.
