CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!! You must be so happy 😀

Wow, you interviewed REALLY early! When I interviewed (first week of sept) they told me *I* was one of the earliest people... o__0 obviously not?

Thanks! I am! Yeah, Dr. Heinrich referred to my interview as "ancient history," so maybe they took some time off from interviewing during the late July/August timeframe.

Accepted as well! got the call a little after 12 today! Good luck to all of those who are still waiting to hear back

Congratulations to both of you!! Would you mind sharing your stats?

Got the call from Dr. H. today. He really is an awesome guy. We spent about 10 minutes on the phone together while he went through my application, asked me about my experiences at interview day, and just chatting about stuff. He indicated that he was doing the early interviews today, so don't worry if you interviewed later and haven't received a call yet.

Just because someone will ask:
In state.
High stats.
Interview early August.

OMG!!!!!!!!!! ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀😀😀😀😀

Dean Heinrich called and we spent ~10 minutes talking about my activities, how they're going, etc. He asked me about my interview and tour, and we talked a little about NJMS 🙂

I got the call while out to dinner with my parents, so I had to leave the restaurant in the middle to take the call, but when I first picked up my phone, I freeeeeeeaked out, because I really didn't think he was calling anymore.

MCAT 35

Is there any chance we'll get emails in the morning before getting the call? If he's calling people who interviewed after me, i guess i'm on waitlist or rejected.

no i wouldn't assume that you're rejected/waitlisted. remember, today is just the first day of notifications. it doesn't automatically reason that the earlier the interview, the earlier the call. until you actually get a letter of rejection, don't lose hope!

Dr. Heinrich tries to make every attempt to contact accepted applicants by phone before they get the notification any other way - he likes to tell a story at admissions seminars about an applicant who, if I remember correctly, was doing public health outreach work in Africa and only had access to a phone for a few hours per week. Dr. Heinrich made sure he got a hold of her 😛 And mimicking what gunj said - the cycle is *far* from over! It's way too early to think negatively, especially having received an early interview.

If anyone has questions about any aspect of NJMS, I'd be happy to attempt to answer. I've been involved with the school for a few years through research, working in the ER, and the grad program. Just shoot me a PM.

Just got accepted! For those of you who had a second interview, its nothing bad. I had my first interview late July and the second one mid-September. Dr. H told me that both interviewers had good things to say about me.

3.75, 35Q, in state

I guess my interview went a lot better than I thought it did. I got the call today. So relieved that I won't have to go through another cycle!

Congrats for those who got the call from Dr.Heinrich past two days. It must be very exciting for you! I got in via ED in July, so I know how happy you guys are now 🙂

Will there be any facebook webpage for NJMS accepted students?

🙁 I'm really sorry to hear to that... but if you were able to get an interview early enough to be notified now, you probably have great chances at other places!

Are they notifying people about being waitlisted via email, phone, or mail? Anybody?

Whew~~ Thanks!!! Glad to know~~ Good luck with your interview!!! I hope we both get in~~ ^^

Got an email today about having a student interview me (in addition to faculty). My interview is next week but was wondering if anyone else received this same email, and what it means. Is it something to consider?

Yes I got that email too about the student interview. I think it could be an informal one over lunch ?

My interview is next week as well...

You should try to get a student interview! I got one when I applied, and found it to be less stressful to talk to someone who was more of a peer. It's just another chance for you to impress the admissions committee. I felt so much better about my peer interview than my faculty interview.

Yeah I think they want to get to know me as well as possible, so that they don't have to call me in for a second interview like they do for people early in the summer. I figure they can get back to me more quickly with an admission decision that way.

How formal was your student interview ? Was it before or after the faculty interview (probably depends upon your day's schedule rite?) Anything unusual about the student interview ?

Mine was after my faculty interview, but you're right: it depends on your personal schedule. In terms of formality, I'd say it was similar to the faculty interview, but I just felt more comfortable talking to someone whom I knew had gone through the whole application process a few years ago, so I felt like I had performed better. Good luck!

I had my interview today. Not sure how I feel about it either..Part of me is happy with my answers but another part of me feels like I have no chance. It was definitely more of a "pressure" interview so hopefully my interviewer will take that into consideration.

At this point in the game post-interview, how important are your stats compared to the interview?

I only had the faculty interview. They didn't offer student interviews my day. I got in. Not having one can't hurt you I think.

Initially I thought that having a student interview meant I was a weak applicant, because I have friends who didn't have a student interview and got in as well. But I think I am just overreacting (my stats are pretty much equal to yours, in state)

Student interviews are not offered during the summer, because students are not on campus. At the beginning of the fall, student interviewers are still being trained. Afterwards, they are offered to all interview candidates (provided the availability of interviewers). They are not mandatory, so of course if you elect not to have one it will not hurt your application. It is a good chance to ask questions a student would be better able to answer than a Professor/Physician (e.g. student life, housing)

anyone interviewing here this week ? Any updates on your student interview requests ? they said they will get back to us by sunday evening... but just getting a little anxious about that day's schedule
