I know people who have gotten in off the priority alternate list in the past few years, so all hope is not lost. However, I have not been able to find any info as to how many people are on the list, so I am kinda in the dark as to what kind of chances we're looking at here... hoping for the best!

Just withdrew my acceptance as I was recently accepted off waitlist at my top choice school. Best of luck to everyone who is still waiting! I hope one of you gets my spot.

I actually got the call yesterday - accepted, and def attending!!! Good luck everyone! :luck::luck::luck:

wow, congrats! Did Dr. Heinrich give any indication as to how many spots were open or if they were calling anymore people this week??

To those who are still on the waitlist: did you contact the Director of Admissions, Mercedes Rivero, or did you just talk to Dean Heinrich?

I've only spoken with Dr. Heinrich earlier in the application cycle but I believe Dr. Heinrich is the only one who calls to give acceptances. Do you recommend speaking with Ms. Rivero?

In my opinion, I would say so.

Also, again to everyone on the waitlist: have you physically gone in to the admissions office, and if so, how many times? And did you call or send a letter of intent regularly as well?

They have said in the past that they request applicants attempt to stick to one of them (Dr. Heinrich or Ms. Rivero) in terms of meetings/long-term advising

I am on the Priority Alternate list and I have gone in to the office twice after my interview and have sent three separate emails. I first emailed the office after receiving the Priority Alternate email in order to express my intent etc. I also had two publications that I emailed the office about and then went in to hand in hard copies. I did the same for my third publication so I have been in contact but not overbearingly so. Granted, I work at NJMS so I am around more than most applicants, but it's a good idea to stay in touch.

I'm going to see Ms. Rivero for a consultation; I'm on the waitlist right now and I hope I can get some information. Any idea what I should ask her?

I don't know what information she can tell you that will help you feel any better. Are you on the Priority list or the regular wait list? Maybe find out how many spots are open at this point and how many they foresee opening before orientation etc? She probably can't tell you where you rank on the wait list but you can see what the chances are relative to how many spots are available.

I'm also on the alternate list. How do you find out if you are on the priority list or not? They wouldn't tell me where I am on it. Also, the lady I talked to didn't sound very enthusiastic about the alternate list. She pretty much told me that the movement occurred on May 15th and nothing has moved since. Can anyone confirm?

The email you received indicating your being put on the alternate list would have said you were put on the "priority" alternate list. If it did not say priority then you are on the regular alternate list. Someone on this thread indicated that they were accepted last Thursday from the priority alternate list so it seems that they are still actively filling positions as they open up.

Also, since I have only questions about the wait list, I doubt it would take long... Would it be bad if the consultation lasts 5-10 minutes only? Also, I'm on the regular wait list.

To me it sounds like your questions would be better answered over email, but if you wish to make your presence felt then I guess it wouldn't be a bad thing to go in for a short meeting. All I know is that these people are very busy and scheduling a 10 minute meeting solely for questions that can be answered over email or phone may be not be beneficial for their image of you. If you can turn it into a consultation about your application, what was good, what was a red flag, what you can do to improve upon it etc, then it would be worth both your time and hers.

Just a suggestion, don't take my words like they actually carry any weight.

Just wondering, has anyone been accepted off of either waitlist recently? Also, has anyone found out about any waitlist movement by calling in to the office?

It is moving. I called like 2 weeks ago.

I know this just goes to show how much of an SDN noob I am
but ... what does +1 mean?
Does that mean "Yay I got in"
or does that mean "Dropped my spot, that's one more shot for y'all"

To me it means "One more person agrees with this statement as well'
So in this case it means "I also want to know if there was any movement on the list"

Any more movement?

Anything new people? Anyone called into the office or heard about acceptances or rejections? I JUST NEED TO HEAR SOMETHING!!! (sorry going stir crazy waiting for so long...) 😱

I know an attending who was accepted from the WL when she got in. She was priority alternate, ranked 9th on the list (which they tell you after they give you an acceptance), and she had found out the day before her orientation at another school. It was July 20something-that-rounds-up-to-30... 27th I think

Has anyone heard anything good or bad in the recent past? As of a June 1st post on this thread I have not heard of anyone else getting accepted off of the Priority Alternate List. Additionally, has anyone called the Admissions office to get any info?

:luck::luck::luck:Fingers crossed since 2012:luck::luck::luck:

Fisherington,

Did you meet with Mercedes Rivero? Any updates for those on the Alternate lists?

Just got the letter of regret. I was on regular alternate.
