2011 Rad Onc Applicants
Started by DukeNukem
Good luck to all of you!
And for pity's sake contribute to the forum with program reviews, rankings and match stats. The class who just matched, sadly, made sub-optimal contributions overall.

Not much going on this year on this forum... Hopefully other fellow applicants will start to join in on posting too.
I applied to 30 programs on sept 3rd, 4am, then added another 13 more. I got a little obsessive about the details of my photo (took over a day to get it right) and didn't realize I could send the application without it. 🙂 I am willing to apply to more as long as it's not a shot in the dark. Can we get a mid tier list ranked 20-40, a stay away from list, and a scores/phD-only list?
Thanks for the encouragement Gfunk6.
Question: can an applicant apply during the following match for a PGY2 position starting 2012? Or the same question another way, can an intern right now apply for a PGY2 position starting next year?

I'm with you! Applied to 35ish.
SupraRadOnc- Anyone (MS4, intern, attending ...) can apply for PGY2 positions starting 2012. If an intern matches, he/she will be on their own to fill in the 2011-2012 year. Rarely, PGY2 positions open up that are available for the upcoming academic year. Often, these are outside of the match.
Hey all,
I applied to nearly every program...just don't want to to look back wondering if a few more boxes checked on ERAS might have made a difference. Any one else in my boat? Figured the extra G won't make a big difference down the road if I'm able to match into the best field of them all! 😀 I'd love to hear what everyone else is thinking...

I applied to 27 rad onc programs...I think I might apply to more after seeing how many you guys put up!
I applied to nearly all the programs as well. The PD at my home institution told me I was crazy. Oh well. What's done is done. I just wanted to make sure I got enough interviews.
Good luck to everyone!
Good luck to everyone!
When do interviews start coming in for Rad onc?
Offers generally start rolling in some time in October
in case any of you were interested, here's a link to ACGME public listing for program decisions:
http://www.acgme.org/adspublic/
if you click "accreditation decisions" on the left panel and select "programs with unfavorable decisions" on the pulldown menu, you'll see a list of all programs hit with ACGME stuff.
in radonc, UCI (not participating in match) and Drexel are still on probation, and it looks like Loma Linda got hit with probation starting this year too.
