I'm panicking. I put down my campus's tutor coordinator as non-science academic faculty. Was this a mistake?

Got my first II on Friday! It was from an OOS school; totally unexpected. 1II, 2 post sec holds, 1R.

So freaking relieved. :luck:

Congrats. Hopefully the interview is within the next few weeks. When I got my interviews, I was all excited for a few days until I realized my interviews were scheduled almost 2 months later and the excitement wore off lol. Either way, treat this interview as if it's your only shot. Congrats again and Good luck :xf:

Better than during Thanksgiving season where flight prices are completely jacked up.

I'm impressed you quoted it [picture included], as the quote button is so far to the right.

As for interviews, acceptance rates are usually maximally around about 50% of interviewers get accepted. That means it's a coin flip if you only get one acceptance...

1 II - 50%
2 II - 75%
3 II - 87.5%
4 II - 93.75%
5 II - 96.88%
etc.

And those are generally about maximum percent shots. An II makes you feel more comfortable, but the odds are still daunting when it comes down to chance! 😛

I'm a horrible person for enjoying inciting panic... 😉

So for the school I am applying to they require 2 science faculty letters and 1 non science faculty. On my secondary I put down the 2 science no-faculty, easy. But, for my 1 non science faculty, i put the campus's tutor coordinator, my boss, for that letter. I thought she was an administrative faculty, but I'm starting to have doubts now.

Will I be okay, or should i get another letter? Can I get the letter to the medical school before/ after my application becomes complete, if it does become complete?

thanks

This is not making me feel any better about my first interview this week...

When you started out as an applicant to that school your chances were probably sitting somewhere around 5%. This is a big improvement!

Ten times the improvement!

So I've had one interview that ended in rejection, does this mean I now have a 75% chance at my next interview? 🙂

Nah, it is 50%. It is 75% if you have two unattended interviews

Is there any resource that breaks down the acceptances a school gives out by direct acceptances versus wait lists? I know the MSAR tells you matriculant data and US News gives you the accepted data but neither differentiate between direct and wait listed acceptances 🙁

And this assumes a generous turnover rate school that accepts ~50% of applicants. There are many schools that only accept about half that.

I shouldddddd hear back from a school I interviewed at sometime this week (maybe tomorrow!?)

PANIC

tick-tock tick-tock...

Verified 9/6. Canadian, 33S, 3.41sGPA, 3.46cGPA, 4.0gGPA (PhD candidate Medical Genetics).

19 US schools.. 3 rejections, next up is UCLA I'm sure (still pre-secondary stage).. and the Stanford folks are seeing the start of another round of rejections by snailmail, so I guess I'll hide from the mailman. 0 IIs so far. ARGH. damn undergrad GPA!

this wait is brutal.

What do you guys think about sending update letters with experiences I didn't mention in my app, in addition to what I'm doing now? Such as a research experience I did for a year but didn't put down because I quit.

My opinion would be dont send anything unless its ongoing and new

Bought Assassin's Creed 3 this morning, and have played for about 5 hours non-stop until a few minutes ago. I feel that I have entered a zen-like state where I have moved past the point of trivialities like panic and application stress. I think this is probably what drugs feel like.

Is it as awesome as the previews imply?

So jealous. I bought dishonored over a month ago and have only managed to play for an hour. FEELSBADMAN.jpg

Waiting to hear back from two schools post interview. If I don't get in either ill really be panicking!

And yeah video games and books help take the mind off apps and keeps me off SDN

I have been super nervous all week, just waiting to hear back from ANY SCHOOL that wants to give me good news. Seriously any kind of good news.

...And then I remembered that like 1/2 of my list is shut down cause of Sandy, so not going to be getting any news. Maybe now I can take a short break from panicking and study for biochem?

...

Nope, still panicking.

I've started to really get into listening to KPOP songs. This isn't right. Somebody please give me an II so I can stop please.

I think I read this thread more than anything else on the internet. I knew applying to med school would be stressful... but damn, I didn't think it would be this bad.

So many people from my interview day got accepted today. I still haven't heard anything yet.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Interview next week is freaking me out because I know how important this interview will be. I already found out I could have done better at my last interview. She said I did not do terrible or anything but I did not make myself stand out enough. Just look at my GPA and you'll see why I really have to make the interview count. This school could be my last chance at an MD program this year.

Am I allowed to panic now?

Oh hey it's 11/1
0 interviews
3 rejections
1 hold.
I hope November is my month.

No news in a long time...I am convinced all the adcom have gone on early Thanksgiving break... 🙁

Passing about the 1.5 month mark after completion. I hope I get more interviews.
