Unfortunately, there's not. They send snail mail only.

Hmm, one among the few.

I bombed my interview here but it's my last chance for this cycle. Plissss
Lets say I get waitlisted... What are the chances of getting off the waitlist?

Seems like there was a good amount of movement last year, so if you write a letter of intent (if you're waitlisted) you have a pretty good shot I believe. Good luck! =]
If letter of intent is what it takes - I am ready to send them a new letter every week LoL. I am seriously considering on keeping my apt in Brooklyn until the last day, even though if I don't get in - moving in the middle of the school year will not be fun (only hope for holiday saturated fallseason)
Honestly, I will probably lose my mind from happiness if Downstate accepts me... Kings County Hospital with it's pool of trauma...and constant "action"...Nothing beats it for me

Has any February interviewers heard back yet?
I interviewed on the 19th so it's probably too early to hear a response, so not yet. It seems they take at least 4 weeks to get to you unless it's a rejection

It's been 5 weeks for me. I hope this is a good sign!
Obviouslyteal, thank you...Can't imagine why would one not want to attend this school. Can you share?
Imahippo, pup113 - do you guys know the ration of # of interviews vs # of acceptances? My interviewer spent quite a lot of time convincing me to not give up untill August, even though I did not ask him any questions regarding "how much longer till I hear back". He gave an impression that either class is full already or I am only good for waitlist... But I would love to attend even if i find out a few days before school starts
I do not know what goes on behind the door of the admissions office; the numbers I know are the same ones you guys see on the MSAR. What I do know is that many of my friends (who are really smart individuals) got in off the alternate list after the 5/15 date, so if you are alternate listed then you have a great shot at an acceptance here. I would urge you not to think about it too much, because ultimately the entire application process across all US MD schools is enigmatic and quite random. Seems like you've already gotten in somewhere, so congrats. Just hang tight.

Yeah, I got into a good school. Downstate, though, is on a different level. It would be just so much better to attend, for a number of reasons - education is of course, and personal reasons which are pretty serious to me are another (wont have to move- spend tons of money on a worse apartment, hugely inconvenience my husband). It's been two weeks since my interview, but it feels like forever.

MS4 here. I was "hold for spring" and got in in July. Quite a few of my classmates got in after me as well.
I understand it's roughly a 20% OOS school but nonetheless it seems like such a tough school to get into OOS. From reading here it seems like all Downstate OOS II and acceptances have 34+ MCAT and 3.8+ GPA. Does that seem to be the consensus for all Downstate OOS or is this more specific to SDN?
I will be applying next cycle and am an OH resident so i'm a bit concerned.
EDIT: Also, it seems like most of the OOS come from Cali. Is that just a coincidence?

I had a 3.6 34. And you'll find that pretty much every state's OOS is dominated by Cali except for Cali. I know people with similar stats or even lower that got accepted to Downstate from OOS. It is probably one of the most OOS friendly public med schools in the US, but maybe that's just my view.

Ah, didn't know that. Makes since though since they have so many apps...
I just got an interview invite here this morning for 3/21. Does anyone know if there are any spots in the class still open or if i'll be interviewing for a spot on the wait list?

Congrats what are your stats?

PMed you. Does anyone have any hotel recommendations? I'm hoping to find one with shuttles to the airport and school.

I feel like Downstate has either offered acceptances or holds for spring consideration post-interview. I don't remember seeing any alternates or rejections... Right?
I was rejected post interview so there may be others of us out there who just haven't posted it on here.
I interviewed in January and received my decision in 6 weeks. If you haven't received a response via email by the 7 week mark, then it's usually a good sign. I suggest giving the admissions office a call to check the status of your application.Has anyone from mid-january interview received letters or emails this week? I interviewed 7 weeks ago but haven't heard anything...

Well, I'm OOS 3.6 32 and I (luckily!) got in. But you are right that a rather huge chunk of the OOS come from CA. I like to think it's because we're awesome. Maybe it also has something to do with the fact that our own state's medical schools are so popular that they didn't have a problem passing us up when we applied there, but hey. Their loss, Downstate's gain? 😛 Also, I went to a UC and just about everyone I knew who was applying the same cycle as me applied to SUNY Downstate... so that's probably another reason why there are so many of us here (at Downstate lol).
Congrats to all of you who got into Downstate. See you here next year..
To all of you wait-listed applicants, Downstate is known for calling you last minute and offering you acceptance. One person in our class got accepted from the wait-list a day before orientation. So keep your heads up!
Spots always open up later on in Downstate, just because many of the higher ranked applicants may choose other schools over Downstate. But Downstate is awesome, you all should come to downstate xP

To those who were accepted at the last moment, how did you handle the loans? I see on the official calender web site that orientation is on August 13th and the payment is due on 20th. Is 1 or 2 weeks enough to get everything in order with loans? Also, I know Downstate prefers snail mail, do they use it for July-ish acceptances also? or they make an exception and call/email?
I'm interested in writing a letter of intent, I'm just not sure who to write it to. To office of admissions or directly to the dean? And what format does an LOI take? Is it acceptable to send it as an e-mail?
I would greatly appreciate an answer. Thanks in advance.

Downstate asked for a fall grade report january 4th....still haven't heard back in terms of an interview. Should I not expect anything back anytime soon? Does this mean I am rejected?

If you don't mind me asking, what are your stats? OOS/IS Downstate is pretty random with the timing of their II, I know people that have submitted in July and haven't heard until February and some that submitted in October and got December/January invites.

I applied here last year and got a similar request for a grade report, sent it in immediately and got an interview soon afterwards. Get it to them quick! Hope that helps!
IS 28Q MCAT Cum GPA 3.64 many extracurriculars....hope i hear back soon. This is my first choice.
It's been 3 weeks since my interview. Cannot wait to hear back. My six sense is optimistic.

Nice, it's up! That was fast, by Downstate's standards. lol.
Anyone who interviewed around February 13th hear back yet.
Interviewed 2/5 and haven't heard anything...

Hey guys I was looking through the thread and didn't find anythiing on this >> does anyone know what days of the week the adcom meets, or what weeks in the month or whatever? My interview was this past monday 3/11 and I was wondering if I've been presented to the committee already or not..
Hey guys started a thread for us on the wait-list or "hold for spring semester". I figure it would be good to see movement an whether they start an alternate list soon. if your info is here feel free to make corrections and updates!

Does anyone know when we have to send our updates if we've been put on "hold for spring consideration"? I got put on hold in late November FWIW.
Send them to the DS Admissions Office email. Then call them to confirm receipt. Good luck!
I interviewed 7 weeks ago on 1/30 what's taking so long🙁
When does Downstate send out financial aid info?
