its more conversational but ur not allowed the interviewers questions... its really not all that different from a traditional interview

Sorry for the late reply.
Anyhow, the probation does not have any effect on residency placement. The match list for last year was normal. And I anticipate the match for coming year to be normal as well.

All the problems/concerns raised by the LCME have already been fixed. The LCME will return to Upstate around Feb/March '13 to re-evaluate and we anticipate the probation to be lifted right after.

Any Canadians hear the good news so far? I'm extremely happy but I need some guidance regarding processes of visa and finances. It would be great to hear from someone else who's in the same boat. PM me if you like.

yes I agree, it was thinner than the towel, so I ended up using another towel on top and slept in sweats. It's a great deal and you get to meet some of the other interviewees, a good way to talk to other people who are interested 🙂
It was a bit far away from the interview place, I would say around 15 minute walk. If you're planning to walk though, I suggest wearing flats... It was uphill the whole way, so not very pleasant in heels... I was so flustered by the time I got there, definitely not a good start to my day.

Just got put on the high priority alternate list. I'm relieved its not a rejection since my MMI was not that great.
 
Just got rejected from here 😱. I thought I did pretty well on the interview and everything. I did utterly bomb one question, but I thought they dropped your highest and lowest scores.

Well I'll just console myself that I won't have to pay 60k per year OOS tuition 😛.

interviewed 10/15.

I am guessing it will come later, but a personalized email from Ms. Welch has to be the real deal. Im wondering if I should call and ask about the portal page

I'll wait until I get the acceptance packet. They probably didn't have the time to update the portal page yet
 
what is the website you guys use to check your status?

I click the link --> then I click Fall 2013 --> then it takes me a page that just lists my application summary

is there another page, or will this be the page that tells me if I get an interview and such?

doubt you can pick it up in person though. Just wait for the packet in the mail. It doesn't have much info in there anyway except for some brochure stuffs. Most info that you actually use will come via email at a much later date.

it comes on the main page, on the same page where you see Fall 2013 after you login. If it is not there then they have not updated or made a decision yet
 
Just got done with my interview day. Definitely a great experience. No stress at all involved in the MMI. Overall a very positive and friendly place that I would be happy to attend.

So my portal page is displaying the acceptance message now and there is a button to pay the deposit. Is it ok if I pay it now or should I wait until I get the packet in the mail?

I paid it before I received the packet. On the paper you're supposed to send back, their is an option to mark if you paid the deposit online.
 
I got put on HPA list. Do you guys know if they start pulling ppl off it earlier than May? Or do we have to wait until May to hear back at all from Upstate? Thanks!

In last years thread, there was one person pulled off the HPA in December. I'm assuming this means they take people as soon as someone drops their acceptancee.

No, LongJourney, 10/10 here and still waiting (hair turning white from the stress, I swear). SU1989 and others seem to have been 10/3. I guess this is our week. Not sure what to make of our friend who interviewed 10/15 (sorry about the bad news and I hope your other apps turn out well). Hang in there!
 
I paid my deposit and went on the portal just now, but everything is gone. Does anyone else not see their acceptance or deposit on the portal now?

Its missing for me too, I paid the deposit yesterday and its not showing on the page, I called them up and the lady said that's normal and it takes a few days to show, we'll just have to wait for acceptance packet

Someone asked a question earlier about the probation effecting residency placement. My friends and I are currently doing interviews and have not been asked once about it. We are going for competitive specialties at competitive locations (NYC, Boston, Chicago, etc...). It's a non-issue. Look at last years match list and you will see we did pretty well.
 
Just checking in to say congratulations to everyone accepted, and good luck to all of you still waiting! Waiting is the hardest part, so just hang in there.

To the accepted folks, congratulations and hope to see you here next year!

Same here. It initially said that a spot has been reserved for me in the upcoming class but when I checked it today, that status was gone. Probably just a glitch

Does anyone who interviewed on Monday remember when they said we would hear? I thought she said next week but that seems WAY too soon... 😕
