Me too! Congrats!! :highfive:

Has anyone received a confirmation of dates for institute of living? I had to send in a new preference list yesterday with only 3 dates because I can't keep holding dates at this point.

Has anyone received a rejection (or no news at all) from Salem VAMC? I'm still waiting, but they have been sending rolling invitations since late November and begin interviewing today. Their deadline is 12/15, but I thought I would check if anyone else is in the same boat as me. Thanks!

I'm in the same boat- haven't heard either way.

Coming out of hiding to post. Been feeling pretty stressed this time around (didn't match before) and am wondering if this should be it for me career wise. I have 3 interviews so far. I don't want to be unfair but am desperate to make a good impression at these sites. What do people know about spring grove hospital, central regional, and institute of living? Feedback from prior interviews/years is that I seem too confident in interviews, but it's really because I get very nervous which for me makes me sound more matter of fact. Kind of like hyper focus! Thank you for any thoughts or experiences- I appreciate the supprt during this!!!
Have you watched videotapes of yourself through the years? Do you see how you come across? Saying that you come across as too confident also could be a nice way of saying other things. Have you asked people who will give it to you very straight? When they ask about areas that you would like to grow - be honest. Talk about this and get a little deep with yourself about why this is. When people come off as overconfident it usually means they are trying to compensate for something else. Overconfidence can be a turnoff and so can being nervous. If you are that nervous, I strongly recommend practicing deep breathing skills starting yesterday and doing them constantly and then when it comes time for interview, use them in a subtle way. And, if you are sensitive to caffeine and sugar - don't have it. Awareness is the first step. You'll get there. Figure out what you are worrying about, Dr. Worry, and then dismantle it.

I'm sorry you're going through this stress, and wish you the best of luck in interviews this time. It seems helpful that you have such specific feedback-I'm sure you're doing mock interviews to make sure that you feel (appropriately) confident this time. That was such interesting feedback- I would think confidence is a good thing! This process can really make us second guess our worth as clinicians. Remember- it's not about your value or your worth..it's about an imperfect (okay, awful) system that sadly hurts many good people.

It is good to do mock interviews so you get used to the sound of your own voice. But also keep in mind that it is not just your past interviews that meant you didn't match. You might have done well enough to be ranked but were third when there were 2 positions and you might have been third not because of an interview but because others had finished their dissertations or had a specific skill set relevant to the site or....... This is a multifactorial process and you do not have control over many variables. You will be a more experienced interviewer this year, you are further along on the thesis (or done!) and this is a whole new season. Practice those mindfulness and distress tolerance skills and just do one interview at a time.

I successfully did this for one site this year. They are accommodating me on an off day.

Mixed results here. Had one site who was happy to move me to another day, one site that was willing to do a phone interview, and one that basically said "either you come for an in-person, or adios." Most sites understand this process --- reach out and see what they can do. Worst that can happen is they say no, and then you have to make a decision whether to keep them or drop em.

VA Hudson Valley interview invite
University of Michigan Ann Arbor interview invite

This brings me up to 15 invites, which is exciting after not matching last year
I still have 7 more sites to hear from

How the heck are you scheduling all of those? Are a bunch in december as well? I feel like I'm struggling and I have many less than that!

6 are in December. I honestly do not know what I am going to do if I get anymore. I don't want to complain because I know it is a good position to be in, but I am feeling stressed

No kidding!. Congratulations on all of those! I feel like at that point, I would filter (cancel some, decline new ones) based on my interest level. Or at least just do phone interviews with them. Though I know the risk of not matching feels strong since you had that experience last year. But at your rate, I think you already have more than a 99% chance of matching.. and you'll definitely be getting more offers.

Do you have a faculty member at your program that is very intimidating? Or maybe someone from another department? Maybe you could do a mock interview with him or her. There's a faculty member that hasn't liked me since my first semester and I asked her to do a mock because I knew it would be very uncomfortable. I survived and now I'm feeling pretty good about interviews.

I'm really starting to feel pretty ****ty about it all at this point. I know that I've heard back from less than half of my sites but it is still really disappointing when all you've heard is rejections. I thought I was a good fit for several of them. I really just want to know what did it for me.

Does anyone have any recommendations at what point it is ok to e-mail a TD to ask what was the problem?

Hey ya'll,
Probably a dumb question, but is anyone aware of any resources online that have a list of possible interview questions (specifically for our interviews...not just general ones) that's available? Was there a forum on here that I am missing where people indicated some of the questions that they were asked last year? I have a decent list provided by my program, and purchased the APPIC book, but anything else would be helpful!!

I give up trying to figure out what my chances are at any sites. I've been invited to places that invite 30% of applicants and rejected from places that invite 50% and from which I thought I was a good fit for. This makes 0 sense at all.

Me too I got a personalized email for an interview at University of Michigan Ann arbo. They said that they will call between December 15 and 18 to set the phone interview .

Springfield Hospital
Mass email rejection 12/12
It was instantly obvious to me why I was rejected when I went back and reviewed their requirements- I realized I attached the wrong report and didn't include one that had a Rorschach or projective measures! Glad they weren't a top choice or I'd be really irritated with myself.

I don't have any recommendations, but just wanted to let you know I am in the same position. Last year I had interviews and this year I have none. It's rough! Be kind to yourself and hang in there! Sending you positive vibes! 🙂

Got same rejection. Rather bummed as it was a top site! Oh well. Onward. And going to get cookies now before supervision! Maybe even a donut!!

Not sure if this one was posted yet:

12/11/14, Rejection from Eastern Kansas VA- Leavenworth, personalized email.

I've regressed from eating actual cookies to eating Chirstmas cookie dough by the tube (no spoon, just peeling the wrapper back like a banana)

the APPIC book is the best resource for this

Has anyone heard from Morrison Child and Family services? They were supposed to notify today, but I haven't heard a peep. Also, any thoughts on how long to wait until contacting them?

I haven't heard from them either. Was thinking about contacting them today - have you contacted them?

To anyone who applied to CMHI Fort Logan- Who did you address your cover letter to? I'm looking at their materials, and I swear it's a new name on there for the internship director.. but it hasn't been updated since August, so I must have just completely skipped over the name. oops.

would/should you respond to mass rejections?

I.e thank you for your time

Or just no response to it.
Unless there's some real reason for you to reach out to that person (e.g., you know the training director who emailed you), I wouldn't bother. I feel like it's just going to get deleted instantly. Later, when the process is over, you may be able to ask for feedback, but a "thank you" for a mass rejection probably goes largely unnoticed anyway.
