James J. Peters Bronx VA rejection via mass email 12/15
So sorry to hear about that - I've had several where I've thought I was a perfect match. I would love to understand what the sites are thinking!
If you don't mind my asking, when did you hear from Lincoln/was it personalized or mass?
Central California Psychology Internship Consortium – Sutter Center for Psychiatry
Invite via mass email
No track
Interviews 1/14 and 1/15
No cookies yet today, but lots of pizza and cheese bread (I'm more of a greasy food stress eater)
Sutter Center is APA accredited because it is part of the Central California Internship Consortium. The website is super confusing, though. Is Sutter APA accredited? The way that consortium is laid was kind of confusing. To me, it seemed like only the sites under the Central California Consortium were accredited (as opposed to the mid coast and northern psych consortium).
I am still waiting on Florida State Hospital as well...getting pretty impatient.I have been following this thread but this is my first post.
Has anyone heard from the following:
Hutchings Psychiatric Center?
Larned State Hospital?
Florida State Hospital?
Congrats everyone on the interviews!
Thank you! I really hope I'm not spreading myself thin, but I don't see any way around it! A lot of my sites wanted the weeks of the 5th and the 12th. For the most part, I was able to group East Coast sites in one week and a couple sites in the same state on back-to-back days. I couldn't pass up that opportunity but I am really concerned about it, especially given how beat up I felt after my first interview last week. Unfortunately, caffeine gives me migraines so I have to use it sparingly. I try to get a lot of sleep and eat cleanly. I welcome all advice on how to stay energized through this process!I was gonna say...you've sure got a lot of invites. Not a bad problem to have, but hopefully you don't spread yourself too thin. Also, I noticed your post about your interaction the other day with the TD who reneged on his/her offer to interview you via telephone. I remember we shared similar concerns about interviewing via telephone vs on-site, but I don't think either of us expected something like that to happen. I'm really sorry it did, it doesn't feel right to me. Sometimes I feel like people have a tendency to forget that sites aren't the only ones determining "fit." For me, the interview process begins with that first interaction and it's an ongoing process. I think someone else mentioned this before, but that type of behavior really does raise a red flag. That doesn't sound like a place you want to be, and they don't deserve to have you.
Apparently cookies are working really well for most people on this forum.Thank you! I really hope I'm not spreading myself thin, but I don't see any way around it! Not sure about Hutchings or Florida, but I know that Larned has sent out invites.
I considered becoming a sugar addict, but I'm getting married in March and have my dress already altered and ready to go. I'd be pretty bummed if cookies were my downfall.Apparently cookies are working really well for most people on this forum.
Thank you! Do you know anything about when Larned went out? If it was personalized? Just trying to see if I should still be hopeful...

Travel stress, interview stress, and missing job/school stuff stress can certainly add up. My recommendation is to try to stay as well rested as you can (try to prioritize 8 hour nights) and eat the best that you can. I know that we joke on here a lot about cookies, but I've found that when I'm eating more healthy, I feel tons better. Also, if you meditate, make sure to find time for your meditation practice. Easier said than done, I know, but taking a few minutes a day for a meditation practice can really help you regroup and recenter during this anxiety provoking and stressful process. Best of luck on your interviews! Remember, you are a consumer and you are interviewing them just as much as they are interviewing you. Most people I have asked about the Match don't understand it, but all echo that it favors the applicant (somehow?) - so try to keep that in mind 🙂
That's awful! I can't believe this type of stuff is happening : /WHOOPS, spoke too soon. They just rescinded their invitation, stating that "Regretfully, due to a Mail Merge error, the letter requesting interviews to be scheduled was submitted to ALL applicants erroneously. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."

Are some of them at least phone/skype interviews? I also remember you saying a handful were in December, so hopefully that helps cut down on the January insanity.Feeling the stress. 18 interviews so far and still waiting to hear from four more:
Manhattan Psych
St. Luke's
UC Davis
Center for Multicultural training in LA
I may have to give up teaching this semester.
I still haven't heard from the Asheville VA. I'm assuming it's a rejection, but anyone else in the same boat?
I got my rejection email from them on Dec. 3rd- maybe you're in a second round of candidates?
I haven't heard anything yet.Any word from Ann Arbor yet? Anybody email to confirm they are/are not contacting people prior to the open house?
I haven't heard anything yet.
Me too.Ditto.
Same here plus Jesse Brown neuroStill waiting on Maine VA and Memphis VA (Neuro track).

Maybe? But I also know we have quite a few active posters that didn't match last year. I know as a matchx2 person, I got twice as many as I did the first time. If other posters are in my boat, it could be skewing the numbers. It seems like people have a lot more invites this time around, at least compared to a quick glance at last year's thread. Is this sampling bias, are sites offering more interviews, or something else?

Maybe it's all the sugar I've been eating that's rotting my brain...but... HUH?! lolHere is info about the match. The video is super helpful at explaining how it works. Not exactly related to the topic at hand, but useful information nonetheless.

I'm sorry the past 2 weeks have been so full of bad news. I didn't have 2 weeks straight, exactly, but I had a week at the start where I received 6 rejections and 1 invite and wow, did I feel like crap. I'm pretty sure during that week, I gained a good 10 lbs from all of the emotional eating I was doing. Even though I worked at a VA for several years before my doctoral program I haven't been nearly as successful with VAs as I'd hoped. I've still had a few (thankfully) from Coatesville, Salem, and some VAs in consortiums, but it's definitely disheartening. Hopefully you'll get an interview from Maine!I'm hoping for Maine VA too, although it would feel like a miracle. Haven't gotten any interviews from VAs... In fact, the past two weeks has been nothing but rejections and all my invites came in pretty early. I know I should be grateful that I have 7, but getting rejections for 2 weeks is a bummer. No cookies for me, just pass the Kung Pao chicken.![]()
