I interviewed at my state school yesterday.. 13 interviews each 25 min. 2 more today. ::grumble, grumble::
I think it went well though 🙂

Woah you had 13 separate interviews, each lasting 25 min? Sick.

What is wrong with them? :stinkyfeet: That sounds more painful than the worst interview marathons I've see at work before.

Good luck, they better accept you after this!

II 15 just now, very strange circumstances. I got an email from a school where I didn't bother to complete b/c it's an oos public, saying they'd like to interview me. But they need me to complete my app and pay the secondary fee. Weird, no? Kind of flattered...

U of Michigan? UT Southwestern?
In any case, nice, congrats!
Some schools review primaries and send IIs even to people who didn't submit secondaries - these are two of them that come to mind.

Connecticut. I'm not sure if I wanna go- it would be close to both our moms and it's a surprisingly small class size at 90, but I would have to head out east for an interview with exactly zero days of vacation left at work for the year.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, CT considers students as residents, so you'll be paying IS tuition starting your 2nd year of med school.

Man, looks like an applicant just dropped out for Friday and I'm already heading out east for a trip to see family! Crazy how this works!

It's really nice when things work out like this. Good luck! (Not that you need it 🙂)

Thanks amy, appreciate it. Funny how i set up this trip to go on one interview, added another one right after it, cancelled them both when I got in to places, and decided to spend the long weekend with my family, and now have scheduled a third just for grins!

First world problems, at its finest. 😉 Enjoy - I'm sure it was not easy getting there. :bookworm:

Got another II yesterday. It's exciting, but I'm so burnt out. I think I'm going to withdraw from the rest of the schools I'm waiting to hear from, aside from my state school and top choice. Interviewing OOS is so exhausting.

Interview #6 done and I'm kind of glad this part is done. Now I really have to think extra hard on how to rank them. The speciality I am hoping for is super competitive and some of the schools will give me a better chance but I hate to pick a school based on what I might do. Unfortunately though rad onc research and exposure is hard to get at a small town school (which i prefer).

Suppose it wouldn't work to do small school plus an away research year or summer to get that rad onc research? Or could you do a related cancer research project through another department? Also, does the research HAVE to be rad onc? I know my small former home state school had opportunities to rotate in rad onc. In that setting you might get better access to exposure. Just a thought, have no idea how that works with competitiveness of schools and whatnot factoring in.

Well I think I'm really done this time. I don't really see myself going anywhere for another interview, except maybe Brown or baylor. But even then...

It's strange because even though I'm not expecting any ii's or decisions anytime soon, I still find myself leaving my gmail inbox open, hoping for a (1) at the top of the tab... wonder when I'll get over it 🙂

You know that some school are still open for submitting primaries, right? 😉

Really? I thought most were going to stop taking secondaries in a couple days... huh.
Trust me, I am a professional procrastinator. 😉 As a matter of fact, I don't think there is any school to which I am applying which has a secondary deadline earlier than 11/15.

Some research would be better than nothing but with so much competition I'd want to give myself the best chance. The rad onc who did a q&a on preallo did a research year after med school but as a nontrad I really don't want to have to do that. Either way I still don't have an acceptance so it's purely speculation.

I hit 14 interview invites this week. I'm waiting on some decisions expected before thanksgiving before I withdraw from schools, but holy crap. Never did I imagine I would end up in this position. I feel so unbelievably lucky.
Really amazing, nice job!

Congrats! Super exciting, I wish I could get half that many interviews!

Got my II #8 today. More exhausted than excited at this point. Good school, but I'll probably withdraw... I just need to wait and see what happens this Friday.

Congrats! And I just wanted to say, I just read your story on mdapps- you must be a pretty amazing person.

This prompted me to do the same. Amygdarya, your story is fantastic. You're soooooo getting into some great schools.

Thanks a lot guys, this means a lot coming from you - aren't we all a bunch of awesome individuals? 😉 Just look at all of your acceptances - congratulations Pose! 👍

(Nice to know: the post I started writing on my computer was saved as a draft that I just accessed from my phone. Good job SDN!)

Got my first rejection today. Hawaii, pre-secondary, post-secondary fee. Oh, well...

I don't think so, I'm just a good bs'er. One day i hope to be genuine too, though 🙂

Well, you're probably the most encouraging poster on SDN. I wish you luck! Any school would be dumb not to have you.

Btw, I also read your story. Incredible.

Thank you acceptmeplease! You guys almost made me blush 🙂

milski, the very first post-secondary communication I got from any medical school was a rejection - boy, did I freak out! I thought there was something fatally wrong with my application. But I shouldn't have worried because - guess what? - I just got accepted to UTSW! I'm gonna be a doctor!!! :soexcited:(And so will you 😉)

I'm so happy for you Amy! job well done!

Thank you PescadoAmor! Hope you get some good news in the next few hours - I hear TX schools send out acceptances at different times of the day.

Ah! Congrats! Save the letter; you'll become paranoid it isn't real after the euphoria wears off!

Before you know it you'll be raking them in and you won't remember the angst. You too, milsky.

CONGRATS Amygdarya! Have been following the members in this thread for awhile, and was waiting for your acceptance to finally come.

Just had my 4th interview yesterday - feeling a lot better about this process than I was even a few weeks ago. Wishing more than anything for some good news soon; good luck to everyone in here!!!
