Hi guys- I'm looking to apply this upcoming cycle to only DO programs. I'm currently taking some classes at a community college to replace some grades from undergrad, which is having a significant impact on my overall and science GPA.

I know that it's very crucial to apply right when the application cycle is open, however I realized I will not be done with my grade replacement classes until the end of June.

My main question is - Is it possible to still submit on June 1st and then update my application with the replaced grades/GPA at the end of June for schools to see or do I need to wait until these grades come in for it to be factored into my primary application GPA? I'm assuming the latter and that hopefully end of June is still considered "early"...

Also, if you guys don't mind sharing any advice from your application cycles in terms of when you think the best time is to get letters of recommendation in order, starting personal statement, pre-writing secondaries, etc. I'd appreciate it!

Thanks!

End of June is still early. Apply with the best possible application and when you get your grades in send that transcript in as fast as possible to AACOMAS to beging the verification process.

Thanks for the quick response! Just to clarify- would I need to wait to click the submit button until I have all my final grades to be factored into my GPA (at the end of June) or can I submit my application June 1st with my grades up until winter quarter and then add my grades from spring at the end of June to be factored into my GPA? I for some reason heard that once you submit your primary application, you cannot update your overall GPA for schools to see with any grades you receive after you've submitted, but maybe I heard wrong?

If you submit your app June 1st and update at end of June it will take around 3 weeks to be reverified. The downside of this would be some of the schools rejecting you outright before you update because of low GPA. Submitting your primary at end of June puts you at the same position (verified and being considered for secondary) as the update without the risk of schools seeing your lower gpa.

Moral of story: submit application an end of June/ early July so your grades are better.

As said above, you can submit your application June 1st and submit your new transcript but it will take time to reverify your application and you may also risk being rejected or placed in a hold pile because of your low GPA.

I think you safest bet is to apply when you get your grades in.
