My Pitt application was updated to "In Progress" also. Honestly I wouldn't worry about it or interpret it as a rejection, but probably we will get our initial decisions soon.

I doubt your MCAT jump will scare them. If the research at Pitt is ideal for you, it may not be a bad idea to communicate that to them. Schools like it when you are engaged and uniquely interested in them.

This doesn't seem desperate pre-interview? I feel like this is something I would undoubtedly do post-interview if the fit was indeed "perfect." But pre-interview? People do this?

I wish the the MD/PhD invites weren't so slow. It seems like a lot of the programs I applied to wait until at least October to begin reviewing applications. I don't want to wait that long!
