If I will be graduating from my undergrad in 2016 (which means I'm an entering freshman this fall), does that mean I will be taking the 2015 MCAT?

What classes do you all feel I should I be taking to prepare for this? What types of major changes to medical school requirements may take place? Just searching for discussion. 🙄

Yes you will be taking the 2015 mcat. bio/chem/physics/physio/cell/gen/psych/scio/philo/engl

Yes, rising freshmen will take the new one (given that they follow the regular 4--or more- year timeline).

Probably no major changes to med school requirements, although more and more schools are requiring biochem and stats.

Don't know enough yet to tell you what courses to take for the test, seeing as there isn't even a practice test out yet for it. It has a stronger focus on humanities, so I'd recommend not sleeping through intro psych (which is what I and most people did, as it's generally an easy A).

Have fun with the 2015 MCAT.

AAMC website has all the info you need on the changes. It's so new that there isn't much else out there.

Wouldn't it be possible to take the MCAT fall semester of junior year for you?

I can understand many of the changes, and their underlying motive of increasing emphasis on scientific reasoning and experimental design, but I just can't swallow the expansion of the bio content to include higher-level courses (cell bio and the like). Isn't this going to introduce a profound obstacle to humanities majors who want to pursue medicine? It already takes two years to take the "core four" at a measured pace, without risking overload.

So glad I entered last year... SO glad! Don't have to retake psych crap.

More info will come out in the coming year, so be sure to bookmark the aamc website!

I'm sure it won't be such a drastic change, and it shouldn't be any harder than the current standards.

In the meantime, enjoy your summer man! Make the best of it, and don't mess up your fall semester! We don't want to read a desperate thread by you in the coming months about all of those C's that you got in intro science classes 😉
