It's a bit more than a standard background check, they do actually mail out questionnaires to the references that you list. I've never heard of anyone having any issues though.

"At least" I assume means that it will be no sooner than July 1 before offers stop going out, but it could (and probably will) be longer than that.

Hi! First time post for me, but reading this forum has been really helpful throughout the application process! I just got an offer for Queens this morning. (Still deciding whether to accept, I've never been to NY but I know this would be a great opportunity.) Are you still looking for a roommate? If you are I can dm you, let me know and thanks!

If you are still waiting for an offer, I was beginning to get discouraged, but they are still giving out offers so don't give up!!

Congrats! Have you accepted the offer? We will hear more after the security clearance and official offers has been placed.
 
Does anyone know what date the program actually starts? And/or the date orientation starts?

@jsquared91 If it says on the website that orientation begins in October, does that mean we will start in October also? That would make some logical sense haha. Or at least I hope so...don't think I can start earlier that that :/

You will start in early October. You will probably be at your host site for a few weeks before training in Atlanta which will be in late Oct or November at the CDC. The training will mostly be HR stuff but hopefully it is more interactive than ours was last year. CDC will cover travel costs so don't worry about that either, its a long way off!

I have a year of grad school at Michigan State. Thankfully I'm almost done and I'll be able to wrap up my degree remotely. So I'm soon to have a masters degree in health and risk communication. 🙂

Does the HR department typically make calls on the weekend? What times have people been getting their calls? I want to have hope still but I'm finding it hard to do so...

Some people have been getting calls late in the evening and they have also been calling people on Saturday. I'm in the same boat as you...

Hi,

Yes still looking for a roommate. You and me are the only ones on this forum so far with offers in Queens! I have never been to NY either, so you are not alone on this . To be honest, i was thrilled when I heard i got the offer, then they said Queens and there was only silence for a few seconds. I thought about it for like a day or 2 and end up accepting the offer. I saw it like I was accepting a challenge, an adventure, and definitely a great opportunity do to and learn more of what Im passionate about, public health. Also working with the CDC, the leading public health agency in the nation!!!! 😍

If you end up accepting please let me know and we can talk more!

I received the email today as well. Still waiting (inpatiently)
 
Hmm, I got the email too, and have yet to receive an offer. Did any of you who DID receive offers ALSO receive the email addressed to PHAP candidates today? Not even sure if it means anything but just wondering.

I got the email and have received an offer.
 
I did get the e-mail as well. I think it is one of those PHAP Chat e-mails.

Graduated last weekend!

BA in Biology and concentration in Neuroscience

Did everyone get a reply to their email when they accepted the offer? All I was sent were the instructions to access the onboarding system and submit those forms. I haven't heard anything since submitting my transcript and background check form. Anyone else in this boat?

"those PHAP Chat emails" are the only lifeline to those of us who are still waiting. So any communication we receive we are trying to figure out if we are still in the running.

I have not received anything either since I submitted onbording froms.

Oops I just read my reply. I hope it did not come across wrong. I was just explaining that at this point anything we receive from Phap is keeping us hopeful :nod:

I received a reply from my HR contact, but I did email them to ask if they had received my acceptance of the offer and my transcript.
 
Hey I am a long time lurker who was extremely anxious, but I did finally get an offer. I got a call from a 770 area code ( GA). I got the call around 8:50 pm cst on Thurs night , and I'm going to San Antonio , TX !! If anyone else is headed that way let me know. Also I would not worry too much about degrees, I have a BA in history with a political science minor, plus a MPA with a concentration in Public Policy. Calls are still being made, but it just takes a while, so be patient
 
Decided to accept my offer to Oroville, CA! And I graduated with a BA in anthropology in 2014.
