Wow, it's basically the same. BU did move up though, so did Tulane... This really hasn't effected my decision TBH.

[Edit] Whoa, Yale has dropped a bit in rankings and GW has shot up two spots.

Anybody has the rankings and scores of 2011? I want to ccompare and can't find the old one anymore!

I bet I can do it from memory, at least 1-16.

Thank you for sharing!

Since you seem to be extremely knowledgeable about this; how do you feel about the smaller programs that aren't in SPHs and aren't ranked? Particularly, I am referring to WashU's MPH which is a newer program in their school of social work.

I think if it makes sense to go, it's a nice option. However, programs tend to have less options--so it's best for people who know exactly what they want out of a program. If your interests align nicely with what they offer, then it's great. But if you've got multiple interests and want to explore, a bigger school might be a better option.

Thanks! So it doesn't sound like you think that having a newer MPH vs the Columbia brand would have much impact on my job and doctoral prospects?

Columbia brand will always be helpful--but the alternative school, if it has a good reputation, will still be viewed positively. It's always about perception with a lot of people, even if the quality of the program itself is just okay, a good name always helps. It won't make or break your career, your work will dictate that. I also think career direction matters--if you go for a really competitive career (e.g. management consulting), going for a big name brand might be really helpful, particularly for companies that mostly hire "elite" grads.
