Pretty sure they only send you those if you've ever in the history of life indicated you've wanted to go to medical school. Apply if you want but don't feel special (I'm sure you are!)

I'm nervous.. For those who did the interview, were they big on ethics?

How are IIs being sent out? Email or phone call? Or should I be checking the portal neurotically? 😀
An II should for sure show up on your portal, but it looks like it's been varied as to whether or not people have gotten an email too. I never got an II email, it just showed up on my portal one day. You won't get a phone call.

I'm an IS applicant, LizzyM-74, and completed research in a WSU lab this past summer and I haven't heard anything from them since being completed around the end of July. Thoughts anyone?

Don't think the research lab thing is of any significance, but I'm LizzyM 71 complete late July and also haven't heard anything. They've scheduled only about 1/3 of their interviews so far, I believe, so there's still plenty of time.

WSU is really hit or miss...however it is still on the early side in the cycle so I wouldn't be too worried at this point. Also, WSU has been known to bring out the cycle a little bit longer than other schools, so theres that

I have not heard back! I was complete 09/06 ,

just to confirm,

not hearing back has made me suspicious about this

I know we dont have to send our hard copy transcript until after accepted,
in my portal it says:

College Transcript Not received! , required only after offer of acceptance

Could this be something to be worried about?

My portal says the same thing and I've already received an II. I don't think that is an issue.

Howdy guys, I'm an M1 at Wayne State happy to answer questions about the application process and the school in general. I am not involved with the admissions process so I don't have any inside information about application timelines, MMI content, etc. Any advice/info I give is personal and not endorsed by Wayne but answered to the best of my ability. You can message me or post on the board, but I won't always be able to answer within 24 hours - patience is a virtue. Please don't bombard me with neurotic inquiries or ask me highly specific admissions questions that I, a mere M1 outside of the admissions process, couldn't possibly answer. I want to help you guys out and offer a student's perspective.

In general, don't read into every little email and portal update as if there is some secret message hidden amongst the tea leaves. Sometimes emails are sent on accident, emails may be worded differently simply because different people in the Admissions office wrote them, etc. Mistakes are made and this process is unfortunately not as streamlined as you'd expect given it's a 150-year-old medical school. Most importantly of all, the timeline for an individual application is a wacky process. Speculating if you were passed-up, forgotten, etc. is a stressful and ultimately fruitless endeavor since applicants are often wrong with their assumptions and surprised with IIs, acceptances, etc. Stay positive and avoid obsessing over something you have no control over.

For the record, I was an out of state applicant who was complete early September with a LizzyM of 71 and didn't get an II from Wayne until January. I interviewed in February, was waitlisted and ultimately accepted early May.

Does anyone know the first date that Wayne State is expected to send out acceptances/rejections?

Hey! OOS and got my II about a week ago. NERVOUS AF if anyone has any Wayne State specific interview tips please post ex. need to knows, what was the day like, how to impress your interviewers ect... ( I know there are some already on here but I'm hoping for a more in depth response)

They had us sign something saying we wouldn't disclose details about the interviews, but it was really very relaxed. The MMIs were not that difficult and all the interviewers for them were very nice. My one-on-one was very enjoyable, again the interviewer was super nice. Try not to sweat things too much and enjoy the day!

Me too, no email. I checked yesterday and nothing was there, so it must have come today...

And for anyone wondering, complete since july 21. IS.

So you no longer have MR under admission decision? I just want to make sure I'm looking in the right place. Thanks.

Itll be obvious if theres an II there. Couple extra rows added in, one having a link to schedule it.
In case anyone is wondering, btw, earliest available date was oct 28. All the rest were november.

II this morning! Complete 7/14. IS. Early submitters, there is still hope!

I've been under review since August 4th. Is it safe to assume I most likely won't be getting an II?

There website states "There are multiple rounds of offer occurring from October through March." So potentially any day now!

October 15th is the earliest that MD schools can send out an acceptance. I think wayne said they would send it out roughly at oct 21st.

For those who've interviewed, was there a place to store luggage?

Also, if you interview in the afternoon, I read in earlier posts that the lunch and tours are before the interviews. Would there be time/a place to change from flats to heels before the interview?

You can bring your luggage with you to Admissions and leave it there throughout your Interview day. Afternoon interviews will have lunch and a student-led tour prior to both the MMI and faculty interview. Just let the tour guides know at the beginning of the tour if you want to change shoes so they can work a stop in back at Admissions during the tour for you to pick up your shoes.

As a side note, I saw some speculation that maybe Wayne was expanding their class size from the current ~290 students per class. This is almost definitely not going to happen. One of the reasons LCME had placed Wayne on a probationary status a few years back (they are no longer on probation) was that their lecture halls could barely fit the entire class inside (they fit us, but barely - and very rarely is the whole class attending any one event). I highly doubt the school would try and provoke something by expanding the class size given they don't intend on rebuilding lecture halls in the immediate future.

Another thing I wish someone had told me when I was applying: a medical school on probation (or recently coming off probation) is a very common occurrence and doesn't necessarily indicate the school has committed some egregious error. LCME keeps tight reigns on medical school education for quality control and uniform standards (which is a good thing in my opinion); however, this means that schools that are not 100% compliant risk being put on probation. As a result, nearly 1/3 of all U.S. medical schools have been placed on some level of probationary status in the last decade. It is a common occurrence, and that alone shouldn't deter you from a school. I was initially deeply concerned when I learned various schools had been on probation and was factoring it heavily at first until I realized how common it is and how actually losing accreditation almost never happens.

Don't think there is any special way to switch, but if we both cancel at the same time then we should be able to take each others dates through the online system. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
well, they made it pretty clear you can only reschedule your interview up to 2 weeks before. It'd probably be a bad idea for you to cancel now....
