Hey guys,
I applied for the first time this cycle with an MCAT of between 34-36. Didn't do well, and will be reapplying for the 2016 cycle. In the meantime I'll be getting a masters degree and strengthening my app. My question is, should I take the old or new MCAT? I understand that my score the first time was fairly good, but I intend to better it since I have the time and I didn't really get the time to study for it the first time. The previous threads have discussed how the old one would be preferred given that it is shorter, and the format is well known. However, I wanted to know if any of you know how schools will look at both the mcats. Will they prefer one over the other? This is what I'm confused about. I don't want to try and do well on the old one only to know that there is a bias favoring people doing well on the new MCAT. I can get my studying for either of the MCATs done on time; I won't have to rush to take the old one. I'm sorry if this is a repeated question, couldn't find one on similar lines elsewhere.

That is a respectable score. Why retake? When did you take it? Most schools accept scores if taken in the past three years

Now I haven't looked into this yet, but I doubt every medical school will only accept the new MCAT. If that's the case, there's no reason to retake the MCAT. As wegotthis14 wrote, your score isn't holding you back, it's the rest of your application.
