Hi all,

Just alittle about myself, I'm currently a Kinesiology major with an overall 3.5 GPA and a last 60 unit GPA of 3.8, I'm going to be starting my applications I guess this cycle, I have a ton of extra curriculars, and I've volunteered in 4 types of rehab places so far. I wanted some advice on what I should have prepared and any recommendations for schools preferably on the west side of the US. I haven't taken my GRE yet, i plan on taking it late July. Does anyone have any advice for me, I'm graduating in a few weeks but just thinking about this summer is so nerve wrecking i don't think I can even enjoy my graduation. Any advice for those who have gone through it would be extremely appreciated!

Thanks

Research everything one step at a time and plan a course of action. Hopefully your pre-req GPA is high and you score well on the GRE. It's good that you have volunteered at multiple settings, that's important. As for letters of recommendations, make sure you really have a connection with the individual(s) you plan to ask. If you looked around here, many will agree that the "highly recommend" is crucial. I don't have much knowledge on the extra curricular section (left mine blank 🙂), but from what I have gathered it is not as important as the big four (GPA, GRE, letter of rec, and settings). What schools were you planning to apply to?

All the CSU's (Northridge, San Diego State, Fresno, Sacremento) Except Long Beach, they wanted me to take another Biology course, I might take it not sure though, Loma Linda, Mount Saint Marys, and afew schools in Arizona (AT Still and NAU i think..) My Prereq GPA is about a 3.4-3.5 still have to take 2 classes (Micro and Abnormal Psych).

The CSU's are tough, especially Northridge and Long Beach. Since they don't conduct interviews, they solely look at the big 4. For example, I have a 3.7 cGPA and 3.5 pGPA and got wait listed at Northridge and rejected at Long Beach. Sac state only takes top 80 for interviews. I'm not sure how many individuals Fresno interviews but there was a lot when I went. From what I hear, NAU is extremely competitive and their admissions process is confusing for lack of a better term.

I also have a question for this coming cycle, Im still working on two of my prerequsites.
Should i take one this fall 2015 and another one on spring 2016? Or should i take both this coming fall?

Depends on the school, most schools allow outstanding pre-reqs such as 1 science and 1 non-science. However, it is best to have all pre-reqs completed prior for it will only help your chances. It is important to note that outstanding pre-reqs isn't a death sentence to your application. To answer your question, it would be best to finish all pre-reqs fall of 2015 for most schools factor in the academic update! Also, do what's best for your GPA in terms of whether or not you should take both pre-reqs at the same time.

OP, your question is a little broad, all we can really tell you is to read and do your research like the rest of us had to. If you have more specific questions that haven't been answered hundred of times already, I'm sure you'll get some better responses.
