Just wanted to create this thread so people can post their interview invites and dates! I'm excited for this interview season (also really nervous)!

Btw, Stanford is not available on ERAS. Anyone know why that is? Do they already have their spot filled from someone they're already interested in at their own institution, or...?

Just to clarify, are we only posting ones that haven't already been posted above or just all the interviews/dates as they come?

Doesn't matter, more post the better. A great surgeon once told me that communication is the key

I personally like doing it the way you just did it! Adding to the list that others have already posted!

Anyone have an interview date with Maine Medical on 1/6 willing to switch for 12/9?

Anyone have an interview date with Maine Medical on 1/6 willing to switch for 12/9?

I'm on 11/4, sorry. Does anyone have information about the positives and negatives of Maine Medical? I've heard vaguely that they're a very strong program but was hoping I could know specifics.

Does anyone know how many interviews is typical to feel confident about matching in vascular? I've only heard gen surg numbers which is about 15.

From years past, it seems like 15-20 but no guarantees obviously.

@mimelim knows better than I do. How many applicants are interviewed usually per spot? Thanks!!

We interview 25 per spot. Most places that I know of are similar. There is a wide range of answers regarding how many interviews you need. Most people seem pretty happy with 20. It is not unheard of for 30+.

I have two questions if anyone knows the answer:

1. Once invited for a vascular interview is the application still a major consideration, or is high rank based on the interview?

2. Do programs send out batches of invites for the same dates or is it all at once on one day and if you did not receive an invite you have to wait for additional days or someone to cancel and hope you get invited?

Thank you.

Anyone willing to switch their Penn State interview on 12/14 for my interview on 12/6? It’d help me out a bunch, thanks.

I'm on 11/4, sorry. Does anyone have information about the positives and negatives of Maine Medical? I've heard vaguely that they're a very strong program but was hoping I could know specifics.

i interviewed there. i really liked it. i think i ranked them in my top 5. attendings and the interviews were very down to earth. the hospital is nice. portland seems to be a beautiful place to live. my biggest complaint is the cold weather. i don't really remember much about case volume or anything like that but i'm sure it's plenty

Thank you.

1. I am pretty sure your rank is still in consideration, but interview says a lot about you that paper won't.
2. Feels like program send most invites out on the same day. There might be a few that does it in several days. Following the thread here when people update the list gives you a general idea if you have a shot with a program imo. For example, if Case western sent out invites a week ago and I still haven't gotten it, then I would not buy a air ticket to Cleveland :)

1. Everything is in play when it comes to the rank meetings after interviews. To be honest, I've yet to sit in one where the driving factors weren't based on the interview, but people still bring up scores and letters.

2. We send out invitations to fill all of our interview spots and then fill in as needed. Don't know how everyone does it, but the few programs I do know, do the same.

When do you guys suggest I start booking flights? It's been difficult to know when the next interview is going to be offered, whether it's conflicting or not, and how to organize these trips!
