I just submitted my ERAS and finally became a member of SDN (after lurking for many years). I found a thread from previous years that was really beneficial for radiology applicants (2017-18 Interview Thread). I think an interview date thread would be useful for all applicants this year too. The previous thread had the following format:

State
Program name (Interview invite date): Possible Interview Dates.

Please bold any new additions, and include each program under its respective state.

Good luck to everyone. I hope to see everyone on the interview trail. I am looking forward to the journey.

On another note, isn't the $85 that the NRMP requires just to USE the service highway robbery?

Even better, use this spreadsheet. Last year we used the same spreadsheet hosted by Harame4ever and it was awesome.

1) Assessing a fee for goods and services is how the economy works.
2) The size of the fee is typical in the space. The AOA Match charges a similar fee ($80). ERAS charges more ($99) for access to fewer programs (10). All the licensing exams cost more, of course.
3) The fees are reasonable to keep the organization financially afloat. In 2017, revenue from the combination of applicant and program/institutional fees was $7.6 million and expenses were $7.3 million.

So my app was completed and submitted on Friday. However, my MS transcript wasn't uploaded until this morning.

Do programs automatically get notified that my application now includes my MS transcript? It seems unreasonable that I would have to contact all the programs I applied to notify them of this update...but just wanted to double-check.

They know that the components arrive in a piecemeal fashion. Some will invite highly competitive applicants early, but I don't think (m)any rule reasonable applicants out until October or so.

Schools are notified, you don't need to reach out to them

Henry Ford in Detroit and University of Louisville have both sent out invites. Also, I couldn't get the link to the google sheet to work either.

So, is it safe to assume that if you didn't get an invite from schools that have already sent them out, that they're not extending you an interview? Just kind of worried, because somewhere I auditioned has already sent out interviews according to this sheet, and I was under the impression from faculty that I'd be getting an interview.
Or do these invites come in waves over a few days? Fingers crossed for scenario B.

I received two interview invitations today from programs who had already sent out invitations a week or more ago, according to the spreadsheet.

They come out in waves. The PD at my medical school explained how he/she sends out invitations: first wave is home students, second wave is people with ties to the school/state, third wave is regional, etc.

Why would a PD want to do that? Feels like it would reduce diversity of recruitment.

Why woudn't you want to preferentially extend invitations to the folks who are more likely to attend, and subsequently, rank the program highly?

This just gave me so much hope!

For smaller less well known programs, it makes sense to prefer people with geographic ties to not waste interview spots. But for bigger named institutions, applicants will usually come from all over. Thus, to get the best applicants, they don’t really give as much weight to local ties.

Do all programs let you know that you have been rejected or are no invite (silent) rejections also possible?

If you want the best folks you can get
"Best" is influenced by the happiness of the resident, which if we're being honest is often linked to things like location and proximity to friends and family. I think the conventional wisdom is most places would prefer someone who REALLY wants to go to X program than the guy who has a 275 step 1 who ranked your program 10th on their list.

The average program follows conventional wisdom.

URGENT! Looking to swap interview date at Columbia (DR). I'm scheduled for 11/5 but something major came up and i wont be able to make it. I need to change for 11/5 or 12/3. I put that on the spreadsheet but posting here too in case anyone wants to change with me or knows someone who might.

Anybody get an email from baystate radiology (massachusetts), but unable to schedule an interview?

Ok, this is a long shot but...

I am on the waitlist for DR at LSUHSC (Shreveport) and I am hoping someone who has an interview but isn’t seriously considering this program will drop out.

This program is 45 minutes from my parents’ house and as the odd applicant with children, this would be an incredible match for me.

So here is my plea...if you have an interview there and you have 10+ elsewhere and would never rank this program higher than spot 5, PLEASE consider dropping your December interview!!! You’ll go instantly on santa’s nice list and match your top choice 😉

It makes me sad there's no more huge copy/paste dump interview thread like there used to be every year on SDN and AuntMinnie. I'm sure the spreadsheet is more efficient, but watching the interview season unfold on SDN and AuntMinnie was always fun.
