Credit to Carpe-Noctem for last year's 2017-2018 thread:
Official 2017-2018 Psychiatry Interview Invite Thread

Instructions from last year's thread:

1. Keep the list in the body when you reply
2. Please sort alphabetically by state
3. Try to say what school/program you are adding in the subject line
4. It would be helpful if the person who FIRST adds a program could also include the date they received their invite.

Please include these instructions when you quote - And quote the last list available!
Step 1: Click on the blue "QUOTE" button at the bottom right of the last post (don't copy and paste since it will not pick up the HTML code for boldface fonts).
Step 2: Remove the bracketed things at the very beginning and very end. (QUOTE=username;numbers) and (/QUOTE) - where the parentheses are brackets.
Step 3: Make your additions, then post. Please type what you are adding in the title/subject line so people won't have to search the whole post to see what you added.

Good luck everyone!

Please - it takes time for residency programs to properly evaluate the applications that are sent our way. Do consider this prior to sending emails to a program director or office staff in the early weeks. Thank you!

Do you think letters of interest would be appropriate sometime around the beginning of October to programs were especially interested in?

The Dean's Letter (MSPE) is not released to programs until October 1. So, this is my best advice:
1. Give us another two weeks before you start emailing (mid-October)
2. Pick only ONE program which is truly important to you; make it short and specific. Spam emails become pretty obvious and they are a turn-off.

Good luck everyone! You just need to match. The process is long.

I know someone who matched at their last place #25, cried for days, but ended up liking it and saying it was a very solid fit for them in hindsight.

Match = Psychiatrist.

I asked in the other thread, but I think a lot of people posted around the same time and it got buried. I'm a PGY1 in a TY program. Am I getting filtered out because I'm not an MS4? How can I not get filtered out?

That person interviewed at 25 programs? Wtf is wrong with them?

Congratulations to those who already received invitations :)

I'm sorry if I'm being a pain, but is there any chance people could state which program they're adding before the long list of states, that way we don't have to search for every new addition? (especially as in the future, the list will become much busier!) Thank you!

Doesn’t a red flag keep you from getting interviews? The red flag is interviewing at 25 places lol that’s absolutely insane

Hey guys, all of you that already got interview invites, what’s your application more or less like? I still don’t have received any invite, I’m missing one LoR (from my psychiatry chair, most important I think) the other two are from a Family Med PD, and the other is from a past research program PI. I’m a US senior, Step 1 24x, Step 2 CK 24x also. CS pass on first try. Several research experiences, several publications and poster presentations at national conferences. I’m wondering if invites are sent after all the letters are in. Applied only to east coast programs. Any help will be appreciated.

Very similar to your app, except I'm a DO, and not much research. I've got all letters in, including two psych letters.

No interviews.

This google doc has a ton of info on people's stats and how many interviews they've gotten.

It is? I thought I edited it right after I posted and realized that someone had snuck in before me. Are you sure you refreshed? Let me know if it's still an issue.

This google doc has a ton of info on people's stats and how many interviews they've gotten.

docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nY-5Y4IkmyY5mzGXYF7PPvkX3tSHhK_zUgME1jEA-kc/edit?usp=sharing

Doesn't look like it's been updated much under the locked interviews attended ish. Either that or people are applying to 60 programs and only getting 1 interview. Sounds legit...

I feel like since it's been less than a week since we submitted our applications, it's definitely possible people applied to 60 programs and have only heard back from 1.

Very similar to your app, except I'm a DO, and not much research. I've got all letters in, including two psych letters.

No interviews.

Thanks for your feedback. We’ll just have to keep on waiting and staring at our phones.

Isn't that from last year? There are dates in there that say interview invite was extended in october! I think I'm mostly oriented to time :p

I'm referring to the 'locked' applicant info tab.

Is there a post/ thread from last year with the interview dates that were offered for each program? I’m trying to figure out how to strategically schedule interviews!

Go to the Google spreadsheet for this cycle . Someone made a tab for that from last year.
