I saw this coming and made some changes:

I predicted the stock market would be flat or negative in 2018 so I sold a big chunk of my investment. I ended up paying 10 k less under Trump vs Obama:

I've come out way ahead of last year, but then I have a huge amount of children. Which is surprising, because after reading Amazon product ASIN B01HZFB7GI I learned how all the tax deductions change, according to which ones benefit the Baby Boomers. The $2000 child deduction and $500 age 17 & over tax deduction, doesn't benefit the Baby Boomers in any way...yet still we have it.

Surely it can't be that politics is just completely jacked up without any rhyme or reason...it would be so much easier to just blame an entire category of people that I don't belong to (ie Baby Boomers.)

At any rate, I'll enjoy it this year. Last year was different-I ended up owing 🙁 Next year will probably be different. But if I could know for sure, I'd be grabbing my SO and saying, and Hey we need another

Typed mine in and I owe several thousand with the standard deduction when filling separate from spouse. Itemized last year with 25K in deduction so we figured we would just do standard this year.

We usually file jointly but I think I’m going to run the numbers separately just to see if we come out ahead that way. Pretty doubtful, but who knows.
