Curious about the reasons for a Post-Bac.

Is it to gain preferential acceptance to a particular dental school?
If you were rejected the 1st time to that school .... would taking the post-bac secure your chances of acceptance the next cycle? 50% acceptance rate? 100% acceptance rate?
