Hi guys, I am planning on apply this upcoming admissions cycle and I wanted to get some feedback on my current stats. I am on the fence on whether I should retake the GRE to increase my Quant score specifically. I'm not looking forward to retaking the GRE for $205 this summer especially when I am going to be spending a lot of time increasing my inpatient and peds obs. hours, let alone going though the application process once PTCAS opens. SDSU has a minimum combined GRE score requirement of 300 and 4 AWA so I barely make the cut, and I am not sure if the rest of my stats will mitigate my low Quant score...

My stats:
Undergrad: CSUSM (BS in Kinesiology)
Cumulative GPA: 3.62
Pre-req: 3.85 (according to SDSU)
GRE: 148 Quant, 154 Verbal, 4 AWA
Hours: 50 inpatient, 1000+ outpatient, 20 pediatric outpatient
Achievements: Dean's List (7 sem), Honors- Cum Laude
Extracurricular: Community outreach food pantry volunteer, Church Youth activities volunteer, Rock Steady Boxing for individuals with Parkinson's Disease volunteer trainer, Campus Kinesiology club member, Student volunteer at free healthcare clinic for underserved populations in Mexico
LOR: 2 PT's (both outpatient), 1 Major Prof. (Ex Phys)

Applying: SDSU, USA (San Marcos), Loma Linda, West Coast, APU, Chapman, Sac State, MSMU

While I do recommend 150+ in each section, your quant score isn't too off.. if you think you can significantly improve it, I'd say go for it but if you think it'll only go up by a couple of points, then it might not be worth it. Verbal score usually is valued more than the quant anyway. I think your application in other places is good enough to balance out your GRE especially if you'll be getting hours in different settings instead.

Honestly, I think you are fine. I got in with 148V 159Q 4W. Just make sure your video is good since the video replaces the interview.

I don/t think you need more observation hours. You got plenty. 1500 h will not be any better than 1000h.
For GRE, ask the school about average GRE and GPA scores of students accepted last year. If their GPAs are close to yours and GRE is significantly higher (more than 10 points), then consider retake GRE. Otherwise, you should be fine.
If your GPAs are higher than their average, then don't retake GRE. I doubt that school will prioritize GRE in this case.

I'm looking into applying to SDSU for the 2019-2020 cycle! do you have any tips/recommendations on the video?

Honestly be yourself. Stay within the topic and do not drift away from it! I would take advantage of the 3 minutes rather than only doing a minute. Like I mentioned above, the video replaces the interview so you have to be convincing. You can youtube other videos to get an idea how you want to do it also.

Do you remember how SDSU wanted the video to be filmed? I.e filmed on white background vs. in an open area?

Hey man, this is basically what everyone said so far, but the GRE score seems to be your most limiting factor. You have more than enough observation hours. I am currently attending USA in San Marcos so let me know if you have any questions!

The number of schools you are applying to seem pretty limited (all private schools?). Have you considered applying to public schools such as CSULB? One of my regrets is not applying to a public school...The tuition for private schools is ridiculous; expect at least $100,000-$200,000 in loans.

It is up to you. Just as long as you keep within the scopes of the topic.
