I did not feel good "walking out" of the anesthesia oral board exam, but I've never felt great walking out of any of these exams (not the steps, not the ites, not the written anesthesia exams). I guess I'll continue to **** bricks while I await my exam results. My BP is at an all-time high and I'll continue to have nightmares until I get my exam results. The wait is killing me.

I took it several weeks ago. I was 100% sure I failed, but still somehow passed.. you’ll prob be fine, try not to stress too much.

took mine last month. felt the same. results pending. seems to be a fairly common sentiment amongst examinees

several weeks ago as in September?

Took mine in late October and still awaiting results. Felt awful walking away from this one for me too, OP—time will tell!

Yes, mine took 6 weeks and got results on a tuesday

Do they generally release scores in alternating 6 week periods or does it vary?

Indeed! Time will tell!

It is the people who feel great about the exam who end up doing poorly. They don't recognize their own deficiencies.. The fact you are double thinking things could be seen as a good prognostic indicator that you will pass.

You passed. Don’t give too much importance to a certificate. One can always retake the exam. Also hospitals in not so desirable areas will employ non board certified anesthesiologists.

Not always the case. I had no idea if I passed or failed the written exam yet I scored well. I was shaken walking out. The orals were a different story. My feeling afterwords was that either you know the answers or you don't. When they are down to asking about the second gas effect when the knock on the door comes you know. I called my wife after walking out of the second room and told her that I had passed.

10% of examinees are absolute beasts who know they destroyed the exam and say so right after walking out

75% of examinees think they might've failed but the vast majority actually end up passing comfortably

15% of examinees think they passed as they Dunning-Kruger themselves all the way to the "FAIL" notice on the aba portal

I felt pretty good walking out and got nervous that I may have been too confident. They didn’t really try to trick me, essentially just read off of a screen. I ended up passing. I also had friends who felt terrible throughout and afterwards and also ended up passing. It can honestly go either way, the main thing is be confident and safe, you will pass. You’ve gotten through residency.

I passed SOA portion and failed OSCE twice. Anyone else is going to take in 2022 and interested in practicing with me???

The OSCE is tough because I feel like there's much more of an interpersonal communication element than the somewhat more straight forward know it or you don't nature of the SOE. If you do fail, do you get a break down as to where you need to improve? The content outline basically states exactly what you need to know for the more objective elements. If you can't articulate how to do a PDSA QI project or know the basic echo views, you're going to have a bad time. Once you have that basic stuff down though, it comes to how good are you at faking empathy and speaking in layperson. Which is hard to do sometimes!

For those of us who took the test between Oct 25-28, should we expect results tomorrow morning?

I saw that too. Good luck, everyone! 🍀 Post if you see them pop up, please!

Passed. Got through ubp almost twice plus 3 ubp practice exam with examiners, the rest of my practice was talking to myself in a mirror almost everyday leading up the test lol. Took me about 3-4 months to study. Still felt like **** coming out of the test but thank God I passed and can move on with my life. Good luck to all.

Passed! 🙂
Also thought I failed.
Practicing old aba exams with husband helped the most!
Good luck and best wishes to those who are studying/reading these forums!

PM me if anybody wants to buy oral board study materials - justorals student manual, board stiff 3, knocking out the boards etc.
