Hey everyone! I was told this was the place to refine your school list for the cycle so I wanted to make a post and see what input people had in regards to the list I have compiled. I am a Utah resident and found schools with a high out of state acceptance rate and larger class sizes to increase my chances.
cGPA: 3.63 (had a C in anatomy and a biochemistry course which brought my GPA down significantly. This last semester was a 3.85.)
sGPA (MD): 3.61
sGPA (DO): 3.57
MCAT: I write June 17th but I wanted to get advice on my school list. I got 508 on the sample test 3 weeks ago, 510 on FL2 2 weeks ago and have been averaging 75% on Uworld. Should be in the 513-515 range come 6/17.
Major: Human Biology (recently switched from biochemistry)
Minor: Chemistry
EC's:
MD:
Tulane, New York Med, Hackensack, Rush, Temple, Albany, East Virginia, Wake Forest, Vermont, Medical College of Wisconsin, Chicago Med Franklin, Loyola, Dartmouth, George Washington, Drexel, Quinnipiac.
DO:
NOORDA, Rocky Vista, Philadelphia COM, Des Moines osteopathic, Kansas City osteopathic, AT Still- Mesa.
I will be submitting both AMCAS and AACOMAS with only 1 school to get my primary processing the end of may. From there if my MCAT score comes back 510+ Ill apply to this school list, if it is lower, ill skew it more towards DO. I would be happy to go to either MD or DO but have heard often time MD give you more competitive residencies/fellowships. I am looking at going into bone marrow transplant right now but that will most likely change.
